Ready
Humble
Bell
and the rest of the top 25 which must be paid a minimum of 50k.

Lui was well paid, Gibbs was well paid, Payten was well paid and with the exception of Blair we picked up guys looking for a chance.

From memory the early retirement of Tuiaki and to a lesser extent Cayless allowed us to front load some contract values.

That and Lote, Blair, Farah & Marshall all have a good whack of third party deals to supplement their income easing pressure on the cap

Why the hell would anyone want to supplement Tuqiri?

Because the deals were signed when he came across from Onion and he is still the biggest draw card after Benji for Corporate Events.

Last year he played busted and his age showed

It's $4.3 mil and it isn't a hard cap. Each individual players gets 180k in third party sponsorships which don't feature under the cap. Marshall may be on 500k, but 180k (he'd max out sponsorship easily) is not in the cap, plus, due to the "long player service" (100k?) that could be backended (450k 1 year, then 550k then next, but the same under the cap). Farah would get this too.

Loti would get close to the full 180k as well.

Are you suggesting that as far as the cap is concerned, Marshall only gets paid $320k per year?

Please....

A bigger percentage of Lockyers contract was not recognised in the cap.

http://www.nrl.com/nrlhq/referencecentre/salarycap/tabid/10434/default.aspx

There's a lot of loopholes; cars, marquee player allowances (300k). The media reports a flat fee, but they shift them around, and include match payments as well.

"In 2006, the NRL also introduced an allowance for players who enter into Third Party Agreements with club sponsors. In 2011, the top 25 players are allowed to earn up to a maximum $300,000 from sponsorship leveraging but the total payments under these sponsorship leveraging agreements must not exceed $300,000 per club."

That and players who get sponsorships outside the club aren't included (Marshalls chip ads on the telly, example on the link is Slater and Aussie Bananas).

Chisholm, Humble, Bell, Blair, Reddy are in
Lui, Payten, Fifita, Gibbs, Tuiaki, Dwyer, Jason Cayless are out

I fail to see the problem here? Dwyer will get his salary but he won't play this year so it won't count towards the cap afaik? Lui, Payten and Gibbs would have been on a fair chunk too.

Who cares? They just prove that money can't buy brains or composure in the big moments as the last two finals series clearly point out.

I don't think Blair is the answer to these issues either for some reason.

They seem to be the logical favorites due to maturity and experience in the squad. Good luck to them.
