The way to solve this problem is to have the two separate positions, a recruitment officer and a pathways officer who both report to the head coach. Only in this way will both the recruitment officer and the pathways officer have to make their case for the retention or recruitment of players suitable for inclusion in the first grade squad now or in the foreseeable future.

I can see what you are saying possm, but the above exert is a bit of a worry. While a Bennett or a Bellamy might have the experience and smarts to run the entire ship, having everyone answer to Mary (particularly at this stage of his coaching career...) is a recipe for further heartache. He tried sticking his finger in too many pies last year and just couldn't handle the responsibility and it looks like his role this year has been dumbed down as a result. Not sure exactly what the answer is, but giving Mary that much power, definitely isn't the solution.

I agree with and that is why we should not extend Mary's contract and the same reason why we settle for nothing less than a top-line coach who can handle this.

The longer this system stays in place, the harder it will be to remove it. Millward and his old boy mates support each other and will each build up their own little empires. So not only won't we be able to vote for football club directors, we also won't be able to dismantle the old boys collection of empires within management.

Lafai did plenty of the dirty work, taking the first hit up from our own line. Was playing busted last year and it showed, willing to give him another contract on recent form as long as the money is not huge. As for Milne, missed 5 tackles in 13 minutes yesterday, needs a lot of improvement to consistently be picked for first grade.

Well said but who would be a top-class, Hasler has got an extension, Clrary has a contract, so those two are out. Toovey might be considered. I know people are calling for Mary to be given an extension. This year he is doing a great job, but getting a top notch could bring us to another level.
We also need a coach who can best utilise the transition of our young guns. There is going to be some hard decisions that need to be made on retention.
If Millward is doing the recruitment alone, I see that as an issue with our current or future coach

I think it just may be more that a good start. If we can continue to play with this intent and defence I can't see ua dropping off the pace.
I am very cautious but am growing in confidence.
I think we can win our first 10 from 11 before origin just like 2011!
Maybe......

I wouldn't be surprised to find that the change in our teams performance is due to some outside intervention. If so that's great, keep it up boys.

Poss, the way the boys are playing compared to last year I would suggest it may be divine intervention?

30 players in our first grade squad makes it even harder to fit out top players in unless we use TPA's.

I've been a fan of Lafai & am glad he is starting to show his worth so I would have him. But it might be a moot point because the tigers look to have signed Milne anyway.
