sure he had a pretty bad game by his standards, but that can be put down to inexperience, john morris really didnt help smith as much as he should have yesterday to take some pressure off the kid, he'll be better for the experience next year.

Smith lead his team to one game shy of a Grand Final and had probably his worst game. At 20 years of age and playing in front of 44,000 for the first time he wouldn't have been the first player, young or old, struck by the enormity of it all. It is a learning experience. He hasn't had the advantage of players like Halatau, Thurston, Marshall and Bowen have had of playing in an Origin or Test match. Having played in a big game atmosphere is surely an advantage to not.

that kick was identical to the one that caused (arguably) the try of the year againt the Warriors earlier in the year

There is no denying that Tim Smith didn't have a great game yesterday but even Andrew Johns would have struggled playing behind a forward pack that went backwards. The fact that our forwards didn't stand up (except for Mick Vella) also explains all the dropped ball. The Cowboys had so much time to move up quickly in defence and put pressure on our attack.

Tim Smith will bounce back next year!

The kick worked - whats more, its not the first time he's had it work.

I recall him flogging the Warriors with it on one less than memorable occasion at Hamilton...

As unorthadox as the kick was. It is not something he hadn't don before in a game with a successful outcome. It was just one of those days. Like with the Dragons, timing was off & nothing stuck.

Like the Storm the week before. :(

Rookie HBs rarely if ever lead their teams to a GF win. He exceeded my wildest dreams this year. Forwards should shoulder the blame, not him.

He looks shattered after 20 minutes - he never looked confident at all...I could have sworn i saw tears in the first half.

He is going to be something special and he will learn from this. The choking comes from somewhere deeper in Parramatta than him though...

tim smith is a champ but what we needed was a good 5/8th, morris is allright but he ain't that good, i guess green coming through will bolster our chances for premiership next year or the yeat after. so all in all, im not that sad, we played good this season and its good enough for me, i didn't expect them to be getting the minor premiership. So now i can finally concentrate on my HSC.

Get your head in the books son because you know s&$t about footy. Morris had a great year.

i never he didn't have a great year, he had a great year by his standards but you tell me why is that everytime we loose no one says tim didn't play good but blame him because he doesn't take the pressure off, he's good but you know as well as i do he isn't a regular 5/8th. but well hell its over, i hope he plays even better next year.

To be fair Timmy did his best, it wasn't his greatest game but surely not his worst. And that thug O'Donnell didn't help his cause after his confidence was already well down! He will learn from it and come back stronger, there are others who should take the blame for our ineptitude yesterday. A soft forward effort in both attack and defence and greased fingers from several key players come to mind....

TIMMY WILL BE BACK! He already tore apart many teams this season. I really didnt expect him to play a huge game andhim getting hammered didnt help. Hurry up 2006.

Smith will be a much better player from this experience. Unlike Thurston and Prince he has never experienced footy above club level. Next year he will be much better come finals time.

Not quite.

The kick HAD to be made, if he didn't put that kick in then we're forced in goal for a line dropout. He had to try something and luckily it paid off but even if it didn't he still had to do it and it was great vision by him to put it in.

lol parra were struggling to make yards but I doubt you'd have been forced backwards to ingoal.

it's fun hearing you say it though.

Smith's kicking game was way of the mark. His first kick to Grothe usually comes of but it was 5 inches to long. After that his kicks were rushed and didn't have the same pentration they usually do.
