Brisbane acting like the 'premiers play the opening game is a tradition' is ludicrous. It's happened every year since 03 and maybe once more prior to that since SL.

The Titans are a new team and deserve great exposure on their first night... no favours after that though. Brisbane have always drawn awesomely on Sunday arvo at Suncorp in Round 1 so I don't see how they can claim any lost revenue.

The fear from the Broncos' honchos is rank... they can smell success a few suburbs away and it's scaring them.

In regards to people from Tweed to Coffs supporting a side that played a handful of games out of the home of Queensland rugby league each year- i don't think it would be an issue. Every year in Northern NSW a stink gets kicked up about moving the QLD/NSW boarder South because of the fact that places like the Tweed, Lismore and even Coffs are a hell of a lot closer and have much more in common with Brisbane than Sydney.

Cold Day in Hell. Half My Family's from New England and they'd sooner be in NSW than in QLD. What they want is thier own State...

Starting with this moment in time, I can see Brisbane doing everything in their power to choke the Titans out.

Newcastle will do the same if a CC team eventuates down here too.

Whether or not that tactic works remains to be seen.

But was there seriously anything wrong in asking? "Hey it's our first match ever, wouldn't it be a good idea if we played our local rivals first up?" Hardly a reason for "shame" is it? It's not like we've ended up in court or threats of forfeit or anything. It's a beat up, an excuse to have a go at the little kid on the block.


The Broncos should be big enough to look after themselves by now (after almost 20 years of near exclusivity). A little bit of healthy competition never hurt anyone.

Last I checked Brisbane Broncos didn't own Suncorp, am I right?

No, but they are the only team that has it as their home ground as far as I know, well other then Queensland.

And the Reds. And the Roar. I don't see why another Queensland based team should be excluded from hiring the ground just because the Broncos are around. Afterall, they only actually use it 12 or 13 days out of every 365.

Ok then, in rugby league the Broncos & Queensland have Suncorp as their official home ground, the Titans home ground is in Carrara yet they want to play out of Suncorp, that don't make alot of sense to me.
