im going to have to agree with jokers wild here, sure mcmanus has saved alot of tries, but hes butchered a number of tries too. personally id love to see wes and aku on the same side like in the world cup. wes' defence when he was playing centre was superb, i think this is the best way to get the best out of both players. as for doogs, imo we really shouldnt have re-signed him. we should of bought either another prop or a f**king halfback. not a worldbeater. to be honest i would of been happier to have sherwin then rogers. this year our strongest backline should of been

1.Kurt Gidley
2.Aku Uate
3.Wes Naquima
4.Junior Sau
5.Cooper Vuna
6.Jarred Mullen
7.(insert halfback)

jimmy imo is a great reserve, because if aku or vuna gets injured he will get the job done, but wont exactly win us the game as vuna and aku are capable of doing. i said this once before and someone ate my head off, im not exactly sure who it was...

I think you have misread my post(s) mate because our opinions dont line up.

Jimmy may not score a tonne but he has more than made up for them in try saves
Aku has scored a few but man he has let in some real doozies when faced with anything like a decent structured attack. Dont get me started on his high ball technique either....

McManus's running out of dummy-half last year was phenomenal. That's where most of those tackle breaks accumulated and he time and time got us on the front foot from our own end of the field. It may not be glamorous but added to his bomb defusing ability and excellent defence, I think he has to be rated a very useful player.

Well I've finally managed to watch the replay and have a look at the stats...and really don't have much else to say than I want to see how they all go next week, yes including Rogers too...

I'm not even going to rip into the boys too much, its Round 1 and the Titans were very poor in patches too. The Titans themselves were the main reason why we got across the line so many times even though we really were dominated. I reckon the heat affected everyone's fatigue levels on top of being rusty in Round 1. Our play in the 2nd half certainly looked tired and fatigued to me.

It was also a pleasure to bump into the Jobbers again as well as meet Whats Doing and Pika for the first time :) Now i've gotta wait until next season before seeing us again :( (though maybe the NRL has noticed your Broncos curse Mr Jobdog and not scheduled a game up here this year as a result!)

I dunno. I like all of them. McManus, Coops and Aku. Can we fit them in? I dont really rate Wes or Doogs anyways. If we gonna have a crappy backline lets have an excitingly

crap one at least!!

How anyone can have Aku in ahead of Jim is beyond me.

Totally agree.

There has been many a great athelete who have failed to make an impact in league. I have not seen an improvement in Uate from last year.

As I mentioned in another thread, any hopes gleaned from his performance in the world cup are not valid as he was largely up against 3rd rate opposition where team defensive patterns were Jim Beam Cup grade at best.

I was at the titans game and must say how disappointed first up performance. Yes as the old saying goes you don't win them in March you win them in September! There is plenty of games to go so chin up!

A few issues highlighted that need improving from the knights this year. Firstly our go forward was non-existent. Ben Cross, he is a big unit, but i was watching him especially in defence and he seemed to be really slow in the defensive line. The last try that zillman scored if you watch closely Crossy just didn't even try to attempt to tackle just gave him a free ticket to the tryline. I think he is too big and not mobile enough for how quick the game is going to be this year, let alone origin.

I think Mullen is a good choice at half back. He is the guy who is going to take us to the next level i believe. Give him a chance and i hope he can prove all you doubters wrong. But the ball was not distributed enough to our outside men. Thats something that needs to be addressed. And yes Uate had a shocker, has anyone got double sided tape for his hands please give him something.

But dam any team with the player of scott prince, dead set he was the difference. He is just unbelievable. The way he bamboozled the knights defenders by drawing in so many defenders and creating opportunities for his outside men or show and go was just awesome to watch (though disappointing at the same time).

Hopefully this was just blowing ou the cobwebs in first game and ill give them benefit of the doubt. But we don't want to give away too much lead to the leaders where we are playing catch up all season.

Tough call on a front rower against a fullback in the 70th minute of a game in 30+ heat.

Im currently watching the game now on my IQ and I didnt realise just how many very poor passes Mullo threw during the 1st half. Very surprising

They should just ban JD from all games north of Tweed ;-) No fair that the rest of us have to miss out. Seriously JD, i hope you're not planning on coming up for Origin. I wanna see us win this year.

I didn't notice Cross in that, all I remember was that shocking schoolboy miss on Brad Meyers, I can accept if he's beaten by the speed of a smaller man but that was just pathetic

Unfortunately I missed the game as my new IQ2 box was being installed at the time and there were no live radio feeds so had to rely on NRL live scores... a situation I hope never to endure again... but from all the games I have managed to watch so far there seems to be an issue with the speed of the game and the heat in the early parts of the season.... not an excuse for squandering a 14 nil lead but as I live in Perth and work in the mines in NE WA I realise the difference acclimatization can have on people...

Playing the understrength Sharks tomorrow night should be a good indication of what we're made of this year...

Thanks `knights`... I did try and find a KOFM live feed but with no luck.... maybe my frustration at the time....
