Titans Jersey

Who is to blame for this???

Exactly - who is to blame? The clubs (who for some unknown reason want to erase league's heritage), the sportswear manufacturers (who keep on coming up with this rubbish) and us fans for not speaking up about it!

What annoys me is that the administrators of clubs will point to the fact that "the people voted for the jersey", yet the fans weren't really given a choice. They were offered only different versions of the same "spew design" (love that expression!). I looked at the website at the time when they were conducting the poll and it ended up being about choosing the lesser of 6 evils.

I use my own club as an exapmle of this.....how good do the Balmain and Magpie retro jumpers look compared to what they wear now????

At Parramatta Stadium you'll see a large number of supporters wearing the early 80s jerseys, even the late 70s jerseys. Why? Because they look great and they actually mean something to supporters. Will people being wearing the 2006 Eels jersey in 30 years' time?

In my opinion its the colours that pose a big problem also

with teal as a dominant colour (i know gold coast is marine and everything but still!) its tough to get a good design that doesnt look soccerish (tough not impossible).

i mean look at the warriors jersey, the design i reckon is average but with black and silver its tough to go too wrong, i mean it just ends up looking conservative rather than terrible, its hard to HATE a jersey with black or dark blue as the dominant colour, but with teal on the other hand........

I don't mind the teal THAT much. In my opinion, it can be used fairly well by sporting teams and has been by NFL team the Miami Dolphins. But I agree with you - what were they thinking with teal?

My major problem is that with the Gold Coast and Tweed Heads having such a rich League history why couldn't they have delved into that a bit more for inspiration for both the colours and the jersey design? Instead they're treating the club as though its being established in an area with no League history or culture.

That having been said I wish the Titans (a name I actually like - invokes the old Valleys club) every success - they'll quickly become everyone's second favourite team despite the teal.

And they have the nerve to charge $190 for that pile of crap, disgusting. Although some people are so stupid they'll pay it...

Expect the price to come down once the jersey hits sports stores. All you Gold Coast fans who hate this jersey should get a petition and send it to the club's website.

How does it remind you of the Valley Diehards? The Gold Coast Gladiators, that I could understand, but the Titans?

I have to agree with most of the posters on this thread - the jersey is simply awful. The problem was that while the club put up 5 or 6 options on the website (for the public to vote on) all the options were terrible.

The strange thing is that there is currently a real 'retro' movement in RL - with fans going out and buying retro jerseys and supporter gear (Newtown Jets are doing very well selling their retro gear and other clubs have followed) - but those who run the game think everybody wants to see their teams running around in jerseys that look like a Jackson Pollack painting.

Why is it that no more traditional offering was presented to the public? Why no version of the old Gold Coast butcher stripes? Or even the Chargers' 'V' or even something with any kind of stripes? Just another example of the administrators being totally out of step with fans.

(For the record - as an Eels fan - I also think the current Eels jersey is pretty awful, especially the blue one.)

All a matter of opinion mate, you cant please all the people all the time.

Putting aside the fact that in Roman mythology Titans weren't gladiators, though clearly the Titans logo is representing them up as gladiator-esq warrirors in a VERY similar manner to Valleys... The similarity is striking!
