All part of the storyline my friend ;-)
Samoa Joe had been playing the manipulative heel/devil's advocate role for a while. He created a rift between Kaz and AJ Styles which led to the two coming to blows over the world title. Joe took some time off and his new target became the British Invasion, more specificly Nigel McGuinness, who had since brought back the British Invasion.
McGuinness had brought back the Invasion as Team Great Britain in the World X Cup, which they won, and after defeating The Amazing Red in an impromptu match on PPV for the X Division title, engaged ina three way fued with Brian Kendrick and Paul London.
After the X Division title was held up due to McGuinness getting injured, London and Kendrick began fueding over the strap, taking their bitter war to the next level. Enter: Samoa Joe. Joe, who had been on a bit of a hiatus, returned bitter as ever and was irate at the commntators, people backstage and critics on the internet suggesting mcGuinness was the best 'stiff' worker in the company whenever the X Division was featured. Joe would join commentators at ringside or cut promos after matches berating McGuinness, suggesting he wasnt really injured, was scared etc.
McGuinness returned and was drawn in a first round contest with his stablemate Doug Williams in the Kurt Angle Invitational. McGuinness would beat Williams, but not after Joe began planting seeds in Williams head that Nigel had been using him, holding him down etc. Williams would then cost McGuiness his second round match, signalling the end of the Invasion. McGuiness beat Williams at Hard Justice in a No DQ match. Joe was not finished. He also recurited former Invasion member Robbie Brookside. The three went up against Nigel and the freshly turned Helter Skelter (err Dark City Fight Club) at No Surrender, a match that ended in a no-contest after the ref lost control. Joe and Nigel brawled and bloodied one another, leading to their showdown at Bound For Glory.
The British Invasion, then, entered into a TV fued with Helter Skelter, which would explode onto PPV at Turning Point 2010.
