And just on that, i wonder if any bookies would be willing to take bets on whether or not Souths will win another competition before they fold...again...for the second time.

As for the "rorting the cap" "trying to buy a premiership" calls coming from the usual morons, i notice you all went quiet last year when we didn't sign anyone - in fact most of you were tipping us for bottom 4 as a result of not signing anyone. Rumoured to be signing one player and it starts right back up again...

Had Penrith got their way and signed him, i'm certain they would not be copping a fraction of the crap that we will from this.

Maybe because they have signed one player of note in about 10 seasons.

So with Pearce at half, Carney at 5/8th and Anasta at lock, where does that leave their next wonder boy Ben Jones? Weren't they trying to tell us he was the next big thing earlier in the year?!

No, again, that was the Telegraph....funny where all these stories come from...

What a load of sh*t. People are having a go at us for signing Carney, not for being linked to every player in the competition (which isn't even our fault most of the time). I bet if another team had signed him they would not have got all these comments about how they are bringinging the game down by signing Carney.

If teams like Penrith didn't have junior clubs all over the state then I'm sure we wouldn't need to go and 'poach' other team's players. You can't expect us to develop enough youngsters to keep us going out of the 4 junior clubs we have. This is the way we have to make our team as strong as possible.

This clearly isn't about signing lots of players, as I said, last year we signed one pom reserve grader and two U20s. Why shouldn't we sign someone decent this year. We aren't even "poaching" him, as some deadsh*ts like to claim we do, he isn't contracted to any NRL club!

No, this is purely another Roosters bashing exercise. Very few other clubs would be subjected to this garbage if they signed Carney. May it come back to bite you all in the arse.

I take it Ben Jones is looking over the finer details of his contract to see if theres a chance of a release

Roosters will be stupid to keep pearce at halfback he will hinder anyone who is at 5/8, carney would be more stupid to play 5/8 along side of pearce

Just last week Fittler and Anasta said that was the end of Anasta's time at lock it didn't work,Braith is better at 6 these were words from Freddie and Braith.
I don't understand what this means now,is Anasta who said I prefer 5/8th,I play my best footy at 5/8th going to leave Bondi?
What about the current lock Sa,somethings not right at the Roosters.

I should think that the excuses coming out of Easts if they sign Carney, and given Carneys lack of self control,we should see Easts about every 4th week on TV defending him from various drunken escapades.
Wont that be fun, also the juniors excuse is wearing a bit thin,if you don't have juniors get off your arses and cultivate some surely there are still schools in the Eastern Suburbs,or try looking interstate,I,m sure Easts could help in a non League state and start from go again.
But I wont hold my breath, maybe the Sunshine Coast??

If only it were that easy. You say Easts should do this and that but think about the logistics of what you are saying. Also to go to a non League state would be idiocy as why would you put a load of money into a non fruitful area.

Maybe if Souths handed back the areas they stole we would have more juniors. I mean Coogee is South Sydney....please! Until then we will get them from any area we please....much like every club does these days

blah blah blah souths stole our juniors blah blah blah...

You read the articles that say we stole your juniors but never the ones that say you gave them up... Its like doing a report on world war 2 and only reading what the nazis published....

He will be good at the Roosters if he plays 5/8. If he plays halfback like what he did at the raiders then he will be nothing special.

At the raiders when he ws 5/8 he was class but when he was halfback he was just average.

Todd Carney would be the last bloke I'd want my club to sign. Particularly if I was a club with not only established halves, but Sa at lock and Ben Jones coming through. Carney's a destabilising nuisance, Canberra are certainly better off without him.

Mate I support Manly, the only club at least on par with the roosters about buying players/premierships. I was just pointing out why no-one cried foul over Penrith when they went for Carney because someone asked it. When a club buys petero and .......... well thats the last established player since preston I'd say, they have more leeway than the roosters or manly who have bought several established players like myles, mason, omeley, anasta, roberts and lyon, orford, kite, bell respectively. Tbh I couldnt care less who buys who, its what the game is about. Do those people who complain about clubs buying other teams players expect all those players to sit in reserve grade/TC waiting for their chance? There are only a certain amount of slots in the nrl, but more players joining every year with less going out. They have to go somewhere, or should they all not play first grade for 2 years until a veteran retires or whatever? Its a part of the game.
