Wow. such ignorance. He was awful in 2012.
Dally M?
That counts for nothing.
Shaun Kenny-Dowall ran for 270m, made 8 tackle busts, scored two tries and generally won us the game on the weekend.
He received no points.
And that's just one of 100s of examples of how poorly it is judged. So who cares if he got 16 points one year ... means nothing. The eye test is better. And it says he's been average for 3 years but for a few good games.
It is true that Dally M results for 1 individual game sometimes reward a player who wasn't that great, or miss a player who was very good, but do you really think that a player is consistently given points for nothing?
Are there any other anomalies from 2012 and 2013, or is it just Carney?
Seems that BM and his traditional death riding of all things Shark, and the bitter Roosters fans, are never going to agree about Carney's form from 2012 and 2013, but to say he was average, or even in TT's case, hasn't played a good game since 2011 (really, not one?), just comes across as trolling.
Generally, Sharks fans are very happy with Carney's form for the vast majority of 2012 and 2013, and we actually watch Sharks games, but if Dally M judging and Sharks fans views are not enough, I wonder what the non Roosters and non BM neutrals think.
Has Carney really been "average" for 3 and a bit years (or even had no good games at all?), despite his good Dally M polling, and steering an otherwise attack averse (and previously bottom of the ladder) team to finals football two years in a row?
Granted, he has had a few poor games this year, and Sharks fans are frustrated by that, but he has been injured, and even with some poor form, he has given our severely depleted and poorly performing team a lot more direction and spark since returning from injury.
