He's been average since the start of 2011

Completely true, except for 2012 and 2013, where he was one of the best halves in the comp, was a Dally M leader most of both years, and was a hamstring injury away from guiding an otherwise spectacularly poor attacking team deep into the finals.

Of course, he had his well documented issues in 2011 and has barely played yet in 2014, so good call. You were nearly half right.

Wow. such ignorance. He was awful in 2012.

Dally M?

That counts for nothing.

Shaun Kenny-Dowall ran for 270m, made 8 tackle busts, scored two tries and generally won us the game on the weekend.

He received no points.

And that's just one of 100s of examples of how poorly it is judged. So who cares if he got 16 points one year ... means nothing. The eye test is better. And it says he's been average for 3 years but for a few good games.

From what i've heard, there is some family issues going on right now.
As someone else suggested, he's not a guy who handles adversity well.

Family issues in the Carney family? Who'd have thunk it?

If that family lived in England they'd be featured on Geordie Shore

Todd Carney is Australia's equivalent of Paul Gascoine

It is true that Dally M results for 1 individual game sometimes reward a player who wasn't that great, or miss a player who was very good, but do you really think that a player is consistently given points for nothing?

Are there any other anomalies from 2012 and 2013, or is it just Carney?

Seems that BM and his traditional death riding of all things Shark, and the bitter Roosters fans, are never going to agree about Carney's form from 2012 and 2013, but to say he was average, or even in TT's case, hasn't played a good game since 2011 (really, not one?), just comes across as trolling.

Generally, Sharks fans are very happy with Carney's form for the vast majority of 2012 and 2013, and we actually watch Sharks games, but if Dally M judging and Sharks fans views are not enough, I wonder what the non Roosters and non BM neutrals think.

Has Carney really been "average" for 3 and a bit years (or even had no good games at all?), despite his good Dally M polling, and steering an otherwise attack averse (and previously bottom of the ladder) team to finals football two years in a row?

Granted, he has had a few poor games this year, and Sharks fans are frustrated by that, but he has been injured, and even with some poor form, he has given our severely depleted and poorly performing team a lot more direction and spark since returning from injury.

To be honest I thought Carney was pretty good last season

He had some quiet games here and there, but he also did a lot of very good things

Hell JT, Reynolds, DCE etc all have "quiet games" - it doesn't make them shit

Carney's biggest flaw is his defence, but it's hardly much worse than Maloney's defence at times.

Needs to get his head right.
The club knows the issue and is working with him.
He'll be fine.

When he was picked for SOO in all 3 games ..only to narrowly lose to possibly the greatest QLD team ever?

They usually pick awful players to debut in SOO.
Nathan Merritt isn't sure if you are being sarcastic

He's Rothfield's problem pet project now. Imagine them two together at Northies, they'd form a Drunknado.

Chook.
