Just for starters, anyone who has the balls to fix the rot that has set into the game, to give the referees a directive to clean the shit up in the ruck and enforce the "rules" of the game and piss their "interpretations" off, to cut the gimmicky f**king shit games that exist around the NRL season that are not needed or wanted by the players themselves, to change ticket prices to attract people to go to the actual game instead of having empty seats showing on the broadcast, to fix the ever growing problem of TPA $$$$ and the disparity it is causing in the competition.

You know, the same shit most league fans have been asking for years now, while Greenburg has had the opportunity to do something about it.

That's just for starters.

so you don't have a name...

it's a balancing act between maximising revenue, attracting new fans as well as appeasing the existing fanbase. although greenburg might have a better grasp on the way the game is played and followed, i question if he has the right business acumen and networks to ensure our record revenue deals don't start dwindling again.

quayle is the man imo

Quayle is a no brainer.

Greenburg has had time to fix the above issues I've listed (and a shit load of others) and hasn't. It would be dire if he where to get the nod.

The record revenue deals are largely due to the fact that News was paying f**king nothing the rights for years. The Rights deal was always going to be huge once News walked away. True value is now being seen and it is about time someone comes in to run the show who will concentrate on the NRL competition and make the game much better to watch, get massive numbers of people through the gate and cut away the fluff and gimmicks attached to the season.

That said, we are not going to keep seeing the huge increases in the TV rights going forward, no matter who runs the game. There's only so many eyes in this country and unless this game breaks into new, huge markets (which it won't) or a new platform desperately wants the rights then the massive increases in rights deals are over. The audience/eyes just won't be there to justify huge increases in rights deals. New areas of revenue have to be found.

Warren Wilson has been mentioned as a candidate & has the backing of Phil Gould. This article mentions some of his past experience

http://www.dailytelegraph.com.au/ne...d/news-story/126fefe9f6ae9886f4ab3b0aeafbed1b
It all started when an ambitious 19-year-old rugby league player was asked to become treasurer of the newly established St Marys Rugby League Club.

Now, in recognition of his years of service to business and commerce through the sports entertainment industry and to the community of western Sydney, Penrith Panthers chief executive officer Warren Wilson has been honoured as a Member of the Order of Australia (AM) on the Queen’s Birthday 2015 Honours List.

“I was stunned I suppose when I got the first letter to say I had been nominated,” Mr Wilson said.

“It’s hard to put in words to tell you the truth, I was overwhelmed and honoured, a combination of a whole lot of emotions.”

Over the last three decades, Mr Wilson has successfully combined his love of rugby league with a distinguished career in business.

“Not one moment stands out over another,” he said.

“But the best thing that happened was back when I was approached one night after training and told I was the treasurer of the new St Marys club.

“That probably set the fire.”

Mr Wilson then oversaw a highly-effective restructuring during his four-year tenure as chief executive of Sky Channel and enhanced his reputation further as he spent five years as chief executive at TAB Ltd.

He became Panthers Group chief in March 2012 and immediately began championing fundamental changes which took the club from the brink of insolvency to the position of strength and stability it enjoys today.

“I’ve had a passion for sport all my life, I just love the idea,” Mr Wilson said.

“I would love for it to be compulsory for every kid in Australia to be involved in sport for the team aspect, the ethics, the activity and the fitness.

“I just love sport and rugby league has done wonderful things for me; I’m still in love with it and hope I’m putting something back into it.”

Mr Wilson joins colleagues Phil Gould and Don Feltis, named on the Honour List in 2014, as well as Diane Langmack and John Hiatt previously.

NRL Panthers are still losing significant money, not sure Wilsons track record with the NRL club is as solid as they are making out?

TV deal was nothing special and as said only really got to the point it should have been, nothing more.

We need someone with vision for the game at all levels and is able to build on the structures started by smith to reform the NRL into a far more progressive organisation.

Most peoples gripes are with the operation of the game at game day level at that shouldn't need to be the CEO's responsibility by and large.

I'm hoping whoever lands the job has learned from what happened to their predecessor to kowtow to Murdoch, buckle to existing club pressure and be very negative about expansion.

Extra points from Grant if you can manage to move another game to Friday 6pm commute time ..

No to Greenberg. We don't want someone who allegedly has a history of attempting to cover up domestic violence.

If we wanna sweep all our bad news stories under the carpet then Greenberg is the way to go. though that'd lack integrity.

and i haven't liked Raelene since she said 'the proof is in the pudding.' that doesn't make any sense. she should have said the proof of the pudding is in the eating

Has Greenberg got Slothfield, Massoud, Weidler and Bourbon Bec on side?

Not sure how he will be doing much sweeping otherwise..

Will any potential new CEO be given a week in the job before the grubs start tearing him/her down?

Under smith the game didn't grow, it became more confusing and convoluted both on and off the field than ever. Outside of club membership and Origin the game went backwards with Smith.

Limited the severe damage of the ASADA crap (that went for the first 2 years of his tenure) & oversaw a couple of massive TV deals.

Get real.

Limiting damage from a scandal by pleading guilty to a sweetheart deal is not growing the game.

BTW he wasn't in the chair for the previous TV deal and what he agreed for the future one got overturned by Grant.

I thought he was involved in the negotiations fighter current TV deal, sorry if I'm wrong.

Well he negotiated a $925 Mil deal with Gyngell at Nine, but left enough wriggle room that the NRL only ended up with about $650 mil...

Ended up about a 35% increase on what Nine are paying now- in return for another prime time game on Thursday night to replace the delayed 2nd Friday night game.

Gyngell took him to school.
