All went quiet well before Smith was appointed, to the point that many didnt see an outsider coming in.

I for one can only hope the same thing happens now because the leadership cupboard is quite bare in NRL land and we need another corporate focused on stategic building, before we inevitably revert to the chook raffle mentality of Richardson & his ilk.

What I mean.is that hopefuls are being informed that they are no longer under consideration

Who gets the Easts CEO role will be interesting as Gynell could end up there rather than NRL HQ

Wasn't part of the brief that any candidate must have some knowledge of Rugby League?

A candidate who is currently managing any successful winter sporting franchise in Melbourne would know a lot about rugby league, because it is essential to understand the strengths and weaknesses of all your competiting franchises, from all sports, including rugby league.

One thing is for sure, every executive in every sporting franchise in Australia would know far more than David Smith did.

Putting a guy in charge who quit David Jones following a sexual harassment claim wouldn't be the smartest move by the NRL

He's stepped away from Hawthorn president couple of days ago, probably people putting 2 & 2 together and getting 5.

Executive churn is never a good look for an organisation. Three of the exec team now gone. Grant must be a busy boy.
