And now he is now responsible for deciding whether GI should face more punishment post court case, so he's tainted himself already .
Was he not already stripped of the national captaincy and stood down for two internationals?

(Happy for additional sanctions to apply given what he did, just know he has already had some level of punishment).

well that was an interim measure. if Toddy decides that's enough punishment then fair enough. But he should be considering the matter post sentencing and shouldn't interfere with the process until then.

Well he's been sentenced now (somehow less than both the Bulldogs Mad Monday offenders... go figure), will be interesting to see what is applied.

That last line of yours goes to the matter of a lot of the rest of the off-field incidents, many of them are before the courts so the NRL's hands are tied regarding punishments anyway - and given it's off-season there's no games happening to stand players down from.

What Toddles has effectively done is help get leniency from the court by suggesting he's not a bad bloke. He can now rely on the lenient sentence to show everyone that he isn't such a bad bloke, so no need to punish him any further. Brilliant.

Anyway i doubt there will be further punishments as drink driving seems to be treated pretty leniently. Papalli got 1 week and an international (although i don't think he ever made it back in). T Rex got 2 weeks.

Looking back at past cases, seems like the clubs are officially responsible for deciding further sanctions, but no doubt under the watching eye of Greenberg.

The interesting thing here is that Fine & Elliott both do solid community work (Elliott was Canterbury's Ken Stephen Medal nominee in 2018), but that didn't seem to be huge factor in their sentencing, and both received a longer bond than Inglis did. Utterly bizarre.

(In addition to your mention above, Bromwich & Proctor missed a World Cup although I think that was an NZRL sanction, not NRL)

I'd suggest that has more to do with the Dogs simply copping what comes their way irrespective of grounds to appeal for leniency(past indiscretions and faux outrage would have probably contributed to this as well).

I simply cannot fathom Greenburg providing a letter of reference when he should be ADDING to the punishment(given the seriousness of the offence), not looking for ways to soften it. Disappointed in the courts in this as well.

Has he gone? Haven't seen him staring down the camera during all these bad player behaviour stories?

If we were talking NRL punishments I'd agree, these are decisions made by NSW magistrates separate from the world of footy.

He's a businessman, I'll give him that - but he is not up to NRL CEO standards.

Disagree with you, google his experience pre-bulldogs. Its near zero and he got the Stadium Aus gig based on his Bulldogs link. They grilled him on Big sports Breakfast once and he near shat his pants. Todd has built his career on big words he learned at TAFE and a serious face. All show no go.

"Near zero" :joy: I love when nuffys talk rubbish without having done the most basic research.

He was events & promotions manager at Cricket NSW for six years in the 90's, and has degrees from two different Sydney universities.

And Greenberg was savvy enough to acknowledge that Canterbury Bankshown Bulldogs should be that! CANTERBURY BANKSTOWN BULLDOGS. Very different from the erroneous "Sydney Bulldogs" naming farce. He also has understood that going back to community roots and identifying with local relevance is far more important(back to Belmore games) and productive than trying to hijack supporters with an innapropriate name that reeked of no credibility and relevance to the general punter/fan. MY take on Greenberg is he's working within a very constraining organisation that is tied to both containing and constraining the code. Todd is navigating through this messy and regressive organisation as best he can. He was good enough to acknowledge the Kangaroos v Tonga match/impact but somehow failed (for whatever reason ) with a Kangaroos v LIONS test that should have happened for this year. Treading water in a difficult organisation. That's the way I see Greenberg.

I wouldn't consider that to be a particularly senior position.

Not a lot to crow about really. Events manager roles. Wow.

Proved my point nicely.

Lets get a guy to run the NRL that ACTUALLY has some experience running a large organisation effectively. Events Manager to Bulldogs was a ridiculous leap, then a cushy job at Stadium Aus because of his Bulldogs ties, then straight to running the NRL? Where the hell is the relevant experience in there?
