Like running on the spot and going nowhere?
Was thinking more bending over to take it from the Rlpa, clubs and news Ltd,suppleness could be a useful skill for the job.

I already explained how they would've been framing this so I don't know how I can help you understand more. The strategic plan contains broad based objectives, defined targets would form part of yearly business planning rather than pie-in-the-sky numbers as appeared in the '13-'17 plan.Absolutely nothing measurable or target specific, it’s incredibly light on compared to the 13-17 strat plan. When you define your targets as “increase” or “improve” it tells you nothing.. of course they want to see growth but by how much and in what way? Look at the priority of increasing player registrations, it’s pss weak. What we’ve got here is an infographic, not a strat plan that gives us a picture of where the nrl would like the game to be by 2023 and how it’s going to get there. Ffs half of it was already achieved by the time thy put it out!
Despite the last strat plan failing to deliver its targets at least Smith had a vision of where he wanted the Game to grow to and the balls to put it out there.

You seem difficult to please, you were upset at them not meeting aspirational targets that weren't really realistic, and now you're upset they haven't set aspirational targets.
A lot of major organisations approach Strategic plans with broad objectives these days. I presume this is to safeguard against changing landscapes etc, particularly with elite sport when it comes to media. They haven’t set any targets, aspirational, realistic or conservative! So they want to have more people playing the game, possibly expansion or not, a women’s league (which was already in place) better stadiums (which was already in place) expand the state cups (plans already in place). Must have taken them many weeks to come up with this info graphic! Let’s hope there is business plans behind each measurement.
Nothing about attendance, tv audiences, finances. It is going to be impossible to measure their performance against this “plan”, I suspect that is the crux of it.

When a guy comes into the top job of the nrl with a statement like “I’m not really a visionary” it’s clear what we were getting! He’s not been terrible, hasn’t made too many screw ups but hasn’t really done much of note either. “Steady Todd” is what history will show him as I suspect.
I do think it’s a major failing by him and the commission not to have a decent strat plan for its stakeholders to see though. It either shows them unclear what their goals are for next few years or shows them as insecure that they can achieve what they set and don’t want to be held accountable to targets, either way it’s a poor look for a public facing organisation.
I’m more interested in what punishment the Rlpa and players in general should get. They wanted to be genuine partners in the game. They got it and still have dragged the game threw the mud.

The thing that amuses me most is that we could just put this thread title on repeat for any CEO in the future as we have in the past. No CEO is ever favoured by fansYet when John Ribot declares that he HAD a "vision", it is the word people use to ridicule him...
I think its impossible to really gage someones capacity purely on the press conferences (Plenty of great workers cannot speak, and plenty of great speakers are morons).
The one positive i can really see in Todd's approach is that the clubs might relax their guard if they think he is going Conservative. DSmith came in talking about all the changes he wanted and everyone with an agenda tensed up and drove him out.
Maybe the inside man is what we need to break the stranglehold of the clubs....
And that is largely because so many fans eat up the horseshit agendas shit out by mainstream media. The thing that amuses me most is that we could just put this thread title on repeat for any CEO in the future as we have in the past. No CEO is ever favoured by fans

They are bitch about the NRL, the refs, the bunker but they NEVER offer solutions or alternatives. They just shit everywhere.
Certainly we do not hear from the RLPA boss much when all the players continually make headlines for the wrong reasons.
More than happy for their % of revenue to be reduced in some way after this ridiculous off season of woe.
yupOr do we think this just came from no where and NRL was lucky enough to get the cash ahead of the other sports?
They’ve mastered the art of spin and deliver bullshit in spades
