TV ratings are up. NRL club memberships are up. Women playing are up...So where are these people leaving the game?
It needs to be sorted but zero tolerance on all convicted players has more of an affect then this will. IF JDB is found not guilty it puts more bad press on NRL anyway. Better to deal with it after the courts do
TV ratings are up on Fox not FTA and NRL memberships are up about 3% so far.Major Sydney teams' form like Souths/Dragons/Eels/Tigers is helping TV but not the crowds as yet.
I'm well aware of that fact.
But crowds today are not up as I understand, and I'll wait til Easter is over.If crowds remain static or drop and memberships are up 3%.Then that hardly something to be screaming about.
The female base was initially very small, and touch ,tag is also helping, and I know there are females now playing tackle. One wonders how many more if we didn't have the off season crap.
I have yet to see you bag players ,for getting themselves or carrying on like loons off season.
You think Barba's CCT footage inspired women to get involved.Or Lodge in New York.
People out there read it and see the stories in all forms of the media. If the AFL pays hush money, then it will come back to bite them eventually and I mean a hit of PR disaster proportions. That's their risky choice.
I wouldn't want my code to pay hush money. That's a cop out full stop.
Yep, if JDB is found not guilty then it does put bad press on the admin and back on Greenberg.
Conversely if he continues to play and he is found guilty, after say two years you think the NRL's image will be enhanced?
He is presumed innocent until the court reaches a decision ,that's what the belated stand down clause states.
I still get back to the fact, if this situation was a one off in the off season,IMO there would be no stand down clause.Trouble is I have no idea what should be in its place.
The question is who is more important ,one player who brings the game into disrepute or the other 300 plus players, admin and fans who don't.?
