Todd Greenberg has pretty much said one Sydney team will be relocated.

What you see with the demise if the Bears has been the following

RU has cemented it pressence in the North Shore - be it Northern Suburbs Gordon Eastwood West Harbour and these are bookended by Parramatta and manly and Warringah

I have many friends on the North Shore

Old St George fan supports Cricket & Swans
Some follow Norths rugby
Some the Waratahs

But none moved to other RL teams they walked away from the game and took their kids with them

I would rather poke my eyes out with hot needles than swap too union. All I can say is they can’t have been committed rugby league fans in the first place.

I guess it is a good job we have Melbourne replacing them bigger and stronger than before then.

You may poke your eyes but you are unwittingly supporting the weakening of rugby league in its biggest heartland city! The comp can still have Melbourne and the Bears with prudent additions.

I’m a Roosters fan and if my club HAD to move or risk being shut down for good then I would rather see them still running around than not at all. As long as there is still a throw back to the Easter Suburbs/Sydney side of the club then I’d be happy. This can even just be like the swans with SMFC on the back of the jersey.... or an ESRLFC somewhere on the badge where it pays homage to their roots.

I already live interstate and rarely get to see my team play live, but I still support them any way that I can. If they HAD to become the Adelaide Roosters or whatever then that’s my club/team.

And that's what will happen with any other team given the heave ho or relocation. It has happened to a lesser degree merged clubs.More so with heartland clubs.

I get where you are coming from. But if you lived within the area or not that far away, the physical attachment such as apart from going to games being local, but seeing the players in the streets also, plays a big part in the emotional attachment.

I used to live in the Eastern Suburbs. I know the attachment, but I’d rather have my club continue, albeit in another location, than disappear into the annals of rugby league history, never be seen again.

Because either way you look at it, the players in the community and everything are gone if the club dies off completely. At least if my club was the only one out of 9 that was made to move then they’re still going to be in Sydney a few times through the year.

Let's hope the negative relocation chatter is just that! Chatter. Much more sensible planning for additional clubs! Simple as that but not simple for some!

You have an unrealistic notion that the game has infinite resources to spend on the top tier. Where would you take the money from to pay for both, and more besides? Cut grass roots? Not make the investment in digital? Not have bailed out the Knights and Titans? Its easy to say the NRL should just keep adding clubs but where does the money come from to pay for them, it has to come from somewhere. TV will increase with extra content but only up to a certain level.

Then we get on to player strength and if your spending all the games money on 20 plus clubs then grass roots suffers and you get even less quality coming through. I'm not sure you have really thought your argument through.

Many fans follow multiple sports

The community would support the National Cricket team, Socceroos, Wallabies, Kangaroos, NSW even a Melbourne AFL team as well as our NRL team

But everyone followed the national teams

If your team wasnt doing so well you drifted to your other teams

Thats why in Sydney you get the event crowds

But its these fans that swell crowds from 10k to 30k. But they are also the fans that walk away from MNF ThNF or 6pm Fri games

But I can guarantee they still have Bears jersey scarf or hat in the cupboard hoping fir the day they can watch the Bears in top flight RL again

Other sports I can understand, following a sport like Union that has for over a century done its best to sabotage, stifle and smear rugby league? How could you?

But would you go to Waverley Oval watching Easts playing RG with 100 fans knowing the players playing can never help you win a NRL premiership ever again

Because in Sydney we won that battle in 1909. RU bar Wallabies is a minor sport

And the only sport we hated the most is VFL

Two additional clubs would and should make more revenue for the league! That's positive and prudent thinking. Instead we have "whiteanting " talk!

Absolutely! I used to be one of those who would run out on to Waverley Oval each weekend, or out of Henson Park playing in the Roosters HM’s squad. My club is my club and it has been that way forever, and will be that way forever. If I’m living in Sydney and that was the only way to see the Roosters run around, then sure!

In a digital age there’s no shortage of having games and scores live streamed. I’d watch them that way if I had to. Even pay a subscription to the club just to do it if I’m out of state. I support them whether I get to see them or not. Hell, I still check up on my old junior clubs to see how they are travelling.

I support Rugby League, whether it’s the guys in the NRL, a nothing comp playing over in the RLEF, or juniors at the local field.

You are one of the volunteer people the game relies on. Most of the public are not in that scenario.

Now would happen to those 8000 SCG Trust member fans ?

You'd get a few of the old faithfuls watching, but I feel the majority would just lose interest with the Adelaide Sharks as an example. The name's there but the tribalism's not.More so when you have a decent size junior league.

Me I'd become more interested in International rugby league, of which even now I have an interest.

You would hope so, but what if TV saiys no thanks we are hapy with 8 game content and nt interested in paying for more. Then what? And if they do for a ninth game do you think TV will pay another $40mill a year in a few years time for a tenth game? There are at least 4 new clubs that would help the NRL grow, possibly 6 if you wanted to get really outside the box. So how do you accommodate it? I think we will go to 18 IF they decide to expand and have a confidence TV will pay for it.
