Too many Sydney teams

It's going fine... if a club is in financial trouble (Cronulla?) then they can consider relocation. No need for more forced mergers imo, and in a few years the comp will likley grow to include two more teams, so the % of Sydney teams will drop.

There sure is.

Merge Parrar/Penrith

Relocate Roosters to the central coast.

Shift Cronulla to Adelaide.

Be a start.

These threads always come down to supporters of one team wishing that another team would fold or merge.

I've never heard anyone suggest that their own team should go.

Sydney is the comp, always has been, always will be. Just remember the coat tails your dragging along behind the next time you suggest kicking out sides.

When the comp is truely national then the league can look at folding sydney up and re-issuing licences, but truely at this point, the wounds from super league and whatever else are far too deep in sydney, and there are going to be way to many pissed off people that wont be back to sustain. At this point, they wont cut teams, or as i have said do the proper job and re-issue licences in sydney until such time as the market can sustain it.

I am actually of the opinion we can fit one more sydney team based in the Hills area into the NRL.

A heartland team with no real representation. If anyone cares i will explain my reasoning fully.

I think the game has the righ amount of sydney clubs, and they are all a good enough distance apart from each other.

Only Souths and Roosters would be regarded as having small local areas to choose from, but they've both got money behind them now, so they can hang around.

A good move would be to introduce a team into the top game from rural NSW. Base them at Bathurst possibly.

It would draw crowds of a similar size to most Sydney based NRL clubs, and more importantly, it would kill off the AFL, who has made massive in-roads in the entire rural area west and south-west of Sydney.

It would also add a bit more feeling and quality to the ailing City v Country farce of a match.
