Too small, slow: verdict on Sonny Bill

Hahaha, careful you don't fall off yer bike backpedalling so fast, Eddie.

Now he claims, "he was just trying to entertain the dinner guests."

BUT the original article said, "Jones confirmed his views when contacted by The Sun-Herald."

Bit of an inconsistency there, Ed. If he was just joshing with Graeme Hughes, why did he confirm his stand the *next day* to the media? And now go back on it?

Frickin' tosser.

The only tossers here are the people spreading the rumours. It's pretty obvious SBW won't ever go to union and no one in union really needs him either... he's not exactly a specialist in any position in union and shows no interest in crossing codes!
I fully support Eddie Jones! If I was him and people kept asking me stupid questions about league players that had stated they have no interest in union, then I'd be like "nah, we're not interested in that bloke... too shithouse and dumb!" He did it out of spite.

Mate, you are taking the piss aren't you?

You are saying that union has no interest in signing the player of the calibre of SBW?

lol. You are sounding as silly as Ed Jones on the backpedal.

SBW can join the tigers whenever he wants. Noyce could give him a job lot of herbal world drinks and a cheap mortagge thru Radison Maine. Sheens might even drop O'Neill

I'm sure there may be teams out there who'd want him... but he won't ever come over for the ARU mate and your a bloody moron if you think the ARU don't realise this! Firstly, SBW has catagorically stated on several occaisions that he's a proud kiwi and won't play for any other country (and in union that'd mean he'd also have to play for an NZ club/province) and he's also said league is his game and he isn't interested in ever playing union professionally!
So it's definately not the ARU who would be after him because they know it won't be any good and the chances NZ union want him are pretty slim too... the All Blacks are currently the No.1 ranked team in the world and they have alot of contention for every position, SBW would be a waste of time for them considering they have so many other proven union specialists all showing brilliant promise. As for an NZ club, well they just wouldn't be able to afford him.
No, if SBW is going anywhere it's not to union, it's to the NFL... he's more suited to that game than Union anyway, and it'd be piss easy for him compared to league.
All you boys keep fretting about union  your worried about the wrong code!

id love to see him play for the all blacks but we simply cant afford him.
if he switched he would be on the same sort of deal as brad thorn was on.
all the NZRFU can offer him is 60 000 dollars and a super12 start.
he wont be able to make big money in union untill he makes the All Blacks.
and being honest, he would have to start from the begining to work himself up the ranks.
the biggest attraction to NZ rugby is the All Black Jearsey.
SBW has made it known that he has no intrest in being a All Black and prefers the Kiwi's so i cant see him playing union in NZ.

Id he wants the money then the Aust rugby union is the way to go. Although the NZRFU can make an exception, as they did with Lomu, if they think he's worth it.

Bottom line is that in terms of marketing he probably is, but on field I wonder. Jones is right in that he'd need to bulk up to play No 8, which he'll do anyway as he gets older - but his offloading etc would be wasted in the loose forwards in union - tedious jobs really. That leaves the possibility of centre, where of course he has played some league - his offloading in tackles is superb, but would he be great at making space for wingers?? Dunno - looks like he was born to play league, but who (and how) can afford him - he is an immense talent

Jones is right in terms of him being unsuitable for breakaway or #8 in Union, however he ignores the fact that he'd probably be quite suited to the number 6 (blindside flanker) position. However as the only country he'd consider would be NZ, and NZ have plenty of depth in that area I can't see the NZRFU being interested in poaching him, as they don't get the benefit of poaching laegue players in terms of publicity in NZ in the way that the ARU did with players such as Rogers and Sailor. In NZ the position ofthe codes is reversed, and League would be better served poaching choice union talent to raise interest in the code.

NZ don't have depth at #6 - Collins has only just started to look the goods - Gibbes has shifted to lock... who else??

Still think he'd be wasted

Thorne's still around isn't he? He never exactly disgraced himself in the position. Collins has always been the goods anyway, her just wasn't always utilised correctly.

SBW would be ideal for inside in union
Just imagine someone like Giteau trying to tackle him

SBW is a class league player, and who wants to see him wasting his talents in union.I sure as hell dont.
I couldnt give a rats whether Jones reckons he is good or bad,he comes from a league family,he wants to play for the Kiwis ,he apparently wants to stay at the Dogs-end of story.

To play in an Australian Super 12 team you have to be eligible for the Wallabies. SBW is a New Zealander.....so put 2 and 2 together and you'll see the ARU have no interest in him.

Pffft. There is no reason why SBW couldn't be a Wallaby. Steve Devine is Australian but that hasn't stopped him from playing for the All Blacks.

Devine is also a New Zealand resident and has a NZ passport and plays for a NZ Super 12 team.

SBW still has a Choice As Cuzzy Bro passport doesn't he? He says he is a kiwi....so he won't play for Australia.
