I forgot about gomes he signed so early in the market...

Honestly if the team clicks into gear and plays to full potential then someone in the top 4 will drop and a title challenge wouldn't be out of the picture...

Plus they not playing champs league or cup this year so the fatigue will be much lower from lack of travel..... Dark horse for this year

Sevilla chief Del Nido blasts Spurs 'hypocrisy'

Updated: August 2, 2008, 5:58 PM UK

Tottenham Hotspur have been branded hypocrites for making 'tapping-up' claims against Manchester United and Liverpool by Spanish club Sevilla.

Spurs made official complaints last month over the conduct of Manchester United and Liverpool in their respective pursuits of players Dimitar Berbatov and Robbie Keane.

Yet the president of Spanish club Sevilla, Jose Maria Del Nido, claims Spurs' actions amount to 'hypocrisy'.

Sevilla were unhappy about the manner of manager Juande Ramos' departure for White Hart Lane last season.

Del Nido said: 'It is hypocrisy personified Tottenham are complaining about things they have done themselves.

'They took away our manager and now they are complaining that others are trying to take their players.

'Their style is demonstrated by the way they contracted Ramos.'

Teamwork the key for Juande

rotterdam_trophy_240.jpg

Juande Ramos was delighted with the team performances which helped us to success in the Feyenoord Jubileum Tournament in Rotterdam.

A 2-0 victory over Scottish champions Celtic on the opening day was followed up by an emphatic 3-0 win over German side Borussia Dortmund in the deciding game.
And although the Head Coach admitted there is still plenty of work to be done ahead of the new season, he took the time to recognise the efforts of his side over the last few weeks.
Juande said: "It's good to be taking home a trophy because the players have worked hard and it is great to have won these two matches in Rotterdam.
"All the players put in a lot of hard work for the team, and I don't think I could possibly single out any individual.
"But they are friendly matches and the main thing is that the team came through it and will continue to prepare for the new season."
Juande has managed to evenly spread the game time throughout his squad over the pre-season period so far, so he is delighted to see everyone playing their part.
The Spaniard was especially pleased with our final goal of the tournament - a neat passing move which resulted in a Jamie O'Hara tap-in which Juande believes epitomised a team goal.
He added: "There have been some good team goals scored out here in Rotterdam and it's pleasing when you see everyone getting involved, like young Adam Smith who laid on the goal for Jamie."
Jermaine Jenas, who captained the side, was rewarded with the Player of Tournament award, while Celtic clinched a runners-up spot with 3-1 win over hosts Feyenoord.

Tottenham eyeing £60million triple swoop?

By Soccernet

Updated: August 5, 2008, 10:30 AM UK

Tottenham Hotspur manager Juande Ramos will continue his summer spending spree with a triple swoop for David Villa, Andrei Arshavin and Vedran Corluka, according to reports in the UK press. However, if Spurs want to secure all three deals they will have to stump up another £60million, having already spent £40million on five players during the transfer window.
The Sun claim that Tottenham are ready to smash the British transfer record with a sensational £32million swoop for Valencia striker Villa and will fund the bid with the sale of want-away striker Dimitar Berbatov to Manchester United for £30million.
Real Madrid are also interested in signing the Spanish international, who helped La Rojas win Euro 2008, but Villa's agent Jose Luis Tamargo insists his client is keen to head to the Premier League.
'David likes London and likes how Spurs play under Ramos. If they present an offer, Valencia will seriously study the subject,' Tamargo said.
If the deal goes through Spurs chairman Daniel Levy will make the striker the club's top earner with a huge £100,000-a-week deal.
Meanwhile, The Independent claim Zenit St Petersburg playmaker Arshavin is on his way to White Hart Lane after the Russian club lowered their asking price of £21million.
Tottenham have offered £15.6m for Arshavin but, having banked around £20m for Robbie Keane could easily increase their offer to an acceptable level.
Arshavin has told Zenit that he wants to leave and the Russian club's president Alexander Dyukov is due to meet with the player's agent, Dennis Lachter, in Madrid to discuss the Russia international's future.
The 28-year-old forward has rejected an improved contract offer from Zenit and although the £50,000-a-week deal at Tottenham is not the most lucrative on offer Arshavin still wants to move to London.
Spurs boss Ramos is also set to boost his defence with the £6.8 million capture of Croatian international Corluka from Manchester City, according to The Times.
The continuing fitness concerns about captain Ledley King and the erratic form of Michael Dawson means a defender is a high priority for Tottenham.
Although Corluka played as a right-back at Eastland's last season Ramos views the versatile defender as a long term central-defensive partner for Jonathan Woodgate.
Spurs have been very busy rebuilding the side this summer under former Seville coach Ramos: England's David Bentley, Croatian star Luka Modric, PSV keeper Gomes, Barcelona's Giovanni Dos Santos and Crystal Palace starlet John Bostock have already joined the club.

30 million pounds for Berbatov? The transfer market really is exploding.

What would that make Torres worth? 75 million? Rooney 75 million?

Rooney = $10million...AUS dollars

Arshaving will be done as soon as a fee is agreed, but he's gone from wanting to go to Barca to Tottenham.

Corluka will pretty much be sealed up. Especially is Modric has any say, he'll help Modric settle.

And finally I'm not sure if Villa is interested in Tottenham? Is he?

Villa is almost done,

Zenit are being dicks but I cant blame them they want to keep Buttshaver, he wants to come to Spurs, terms agreed with player, but not Zenit.

Corluka will be officially announced tonight I believe, he was one out of left field.

We have three more targets yet to be announced (excluding Corluka) if Villa and Buttshaver happen there is one more that we dont know about, could be Veloso but since we bought Corluka, that may now not happen.

Capel will join in the January window.

I'm almost embarrased about us spending 100miil and I will never criticise Manure again.

Latest on Berby, he is staying.

Having said that, there sould be different stories around tomorrow.

MANCHESTER CITY have given the green light for Vedran Corluka to complete a dream move to Tottenham.

And new City manager Mark Hughes will use the £8million fee for the defender to buy a badly-needed striker.
Croatian international Corluka, 24, has already passed a medical at White Hart Lane and cannot wait to join his good friend Luka Modric in London.
A City source said: “This deal is great news for everyone.
“Vedran’s a good player but it means the manager can use the money to bring in a forward.
"Everyone’s a winner. Vedran is desperate to team up with Modric.
"He was popular here but this is good business.”
City signed Corluka from Dynamo Zagreb — where he was a team-mate of Modric — in August last year and he made 41 appearances for City.

Those with eagle eyes will notice the absence of V. Corluka from the team photoshoot yesterday...

Make of that what you will.

But I'd be very surprised if he goes for £8 million.

How a player could come over to England, have a great Premiership, top Euro 2008, and then leave for less than he signed? Only at City.

Ferguson has said he will complete a deal for a striker by the end of next week.

Berbatov? Maybe...

Or maybe Falcao.

You guys have a FM 08 Manager dream team.

All you need to do now is sign Saivet, Sakho, Fleck, Breno and Martinez and you will dominate. :p

Who is City's major sponsor, Tommy?

You can just make it out, Thomas Cook I think.

Massive reports of Ireland to Sunderland as well. Looks like a fire sale. Could be trouble for City.
