Doing well in WC selections too

Overnite 6 named in the poms squad, King, Dawson, Lennon, Crouch, HUddlestone and Defoe.

Gomes named in the Brazilian squad overnite.

No doubt Modric, Krancjar and Corluka will be named in the Croats team.

Bassong and Ekotto named in the Cameroon squad.

Unfortunately for them Croatia didn't make it...

sorry, didn't know

probably just as well, Kranky and Charlie are both injured atm.

Is there any players in Europe that we are not linked with atm.

The transfer rumours are just getting ridiculous.

James set for Tottenham switch - Exclusive

Published 23:00 10/05/10 By Alan Nixon

Harry Redknapp is ready to sign David James for Tottenham on a free transfer.
Redknapp has been after his former Portsmouth No.1 for more than a year and could now get his man in the summer.
The Spurs chief wants competition for Heurelho Gomes as he prepares for the club's first Champions League campaign.
Redknapp was blocked in previous attempts for James by supremo Daniel Levy, who was reluctant to pay a fee, but would sanction a free transfer swoop on sensible wages.

And James will also leap at the chance of staying in the Premier League, with a shot at being first choice at White Hart Lane.

Spurs currently have untried Ben Alnwick as number two and are reluctant to spend on an up-and-coming cover keeper like Scott Loach at Watford or Boaz Myhill at Hull.

Anyone would be a better back up for Gomes than Alnwick, who let 4 in against Burnley in our last game, don't think Cuddocini will ever play again after his bike accident.

Calro wants to bat on but needs alot of physio.

He hasn't been delisted but I dont think harry sees him as being up to replacing Gomes for weeks on the trot if Gomes has a serious injury.

Its not just the phisio, Carlo is about 34 next season and getting on abit.

In any case, James is a better keeper than Alnwick imo and this is a typical harry deal, a free transfer much like Gudjohnson..

Twiz are you aware how old James will be in August, I know goalkeeper's get better with age, hey just look at our very own Mark Schwarzer, surely there's someone slightly younger we could go for aswell in the transfer window

Wow we're really being linked with some good players now:

Michael Carrick
Joe Cole
Edin Dzeko
David Silva

I would be surpirsed if we got any of them really, but Dzeko would be my priority out of that list.

if you believe the British press (and thats a big if) this week alone we have made contact with

Dzeko, Fabiano, Huntelaar, Joe Cole, Gerrard, Bellamy, Diarra, Muntari, Amara Dianne, Yossi Benayoun, Gallas, David James, Piennaar and Yaya Toure.

Cant wait for next weeks rumours.

I cant see too much happening prior to the WC.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Arda_Turan

Turkish captain, attacking midfielder/left wing and only 24.

Dont know much about him but it was (or still is) between us and Liverpool and the Spurs fans are pretty happy about him signing, assuming its true.

The alleged swap included GDS and that swayed it for us as he is on loan there atm.

Harry doesn't want GDS back as he is a very poor trainer and is consistently over weight and undisciplined.

Croatian footballing press or at least Sportskenovosti.com are saying Tottenham are very much in for Wolfsburg’s finest, Edin Dzeko. And that Harry Redknapp would not regret 40 million euro investment that might be required to secure the player …’Several times I watched Edin and he is striker and a player that makes a difference. €40 million? We can reach that by selling some players…I think that the money sought by Wolfsburg would not be thrown to the wind’, said Redknapp
They also add that in a season that has seen Tottenham enter the Champions League, leastwise playing the qualifiers Spurs will be forced to improve quality and strengthen this season’s team. Currently, the main priorities of the Spurs coach are Chelsea player Joe Cole and Edin Dzeko, say the Croatian site.

“Exclusive” Spurs beat Arsenal in race for £12m Turkish Winger

15 May
arda-turan-b11.jpg

Arsenal Action can confirm that Spurs have beaten Arsenal in the race to sign Turkish winger Arda Turan.
The player who has been linked with a summer move to Arsenal, will sign for Spurs after he returns from the USA with Turkey for £12m and on a 5 year contract.
Spurs moved fast in the race for the winger, and have beaten off Arsenal, Man City and Liverpool in the race to sign the talented winger.
Wenger, who has admits his admiration fo Turan in the past and his agent “Ahmet Bulut” recently said that “Arsenal are interested, and if they want him, Arda’s first choice is Arsenal.”
But Galatasaray Chairman “Adnan Polat” confirmed that a secret contract with Spurs had already been agreed and the player will sign for spurs in less then 12 days time.
Its seems that Arsenal waited far too long to get a deal on the table before spurs came in with a solid offer.
This is not the first time spurs have beaten Arsenal in a transfer race, Spurs also signed Luka Modric from under the nose of Arsenal. Wenger had said that Modric was too lightweight for the premiership.
Its would seem that Arsenal take an eternity to sign a player, We saw this with the Nasri and Arshavin deal that dragged on for weeks. Arsenal always seem to want to get the player on the cheap and always risk the chance of losing them. As the Arda deal proves.

Arda Turan has huge potential, he's a good signing for Spurs... if you get him and Edin Dzeko Tottenham will really start to have the look of a Champions League team.
