What a tragedy

Tottenham have become the first Premier League club to ban vuvuzelas from their own ground ahead of the new season.

The vuvuzela was a controversial addition to football games.

The noisy trumpets caused much controversy at the World Cup in South Africa and a number of Football League sides have already barred the instruments from their stadia, while rugby officials also took the step of banning them from next year's World Cup in New Zealand.

However, the Premier League said during the World Cup - where the noise made by vuvuzelas was one of the main talking points - that it would be left to individual clubs to decide whether to outlaw them.

Spurs have now made their position clear, with a statement on their official website ruling out their use next season.

''Following discussions with the Police and representatives from the local licensing authorities, the club will not be permitting vuvuzelas or similar instruments into White Hart Lane on match days,'' it read.

''We are concerned that the presence of the instruments within the stadium pose unnecessary risks to public safety and could impact on the ability of all supporters to hear any emergency safety announcements.

''We are very proud of the fantastic atmosphere that our supporters produce organically at White Hart Lane and we are all very much looking forward to this continuing into the forthcoming season.''

Okay guys August is here and its a massive month for our Champions League prospects, below are all the details you need know.

Currently there are 5 matches taking place over 2 legs, so far the 1st legs have been played(teams named first had the 1st leg at home)

Dynamo Kyiv(Ukranie) - Gent(Belgium) 3-0
Young Boys(Switzerland) - Fenerbache(Turkey) 2-2
Braga(Portugal) - Celtic(Scotland) 3-0
Unirea Uriziceni(Romania) - Zenit St Petersburg(Russia) 0-0

Return Legs will take place Wednesday 4th August(Thursday Morning our time)

Once 5 winners have come from this, then this is where we get involved.

Personally I think PAOK, Dynamo Kyiv, Fenerbache, Braga and Zenit St Petersburg will all get through, meaning one hell of a battle to qualify.

My Order in preference would be
1. Dynamo Kyiv
2. PAOK
3. Braga
4. Fenerbache
5. Zenit St Petersburg

It has been confirmed this morning by those in the know that we have agreed to terms to have Stipe Pletikosa (current Croatian Goalie) to joins Spurs on a 12 month loan with a view to making it permanent in 1 year for 2.5 mill.

I would see Cudicini moving out in 12 months as he'll he about 35 or so by then.

Typical tightarse Levy signing.

good 1-0 win over Benefica this morning in a friendly.

Nice goal to Bale set up by Dos Santos who had his best game for Spurs. I dont see us trading him for anyone on his current form, he's like a new signing.

Yep, so happy to hear about Dos Santos, hope he keeps it up and cracks the first team consistently. What position is he playing? And is Bale playing midfield or left back?

Bale left fb, GDS left wing

Harry want to play Bale at left FB as he feels he can attack better from there as there is no one marking up on him, unlike if he played on the wing

Only problem with that is that he is there to defend at fb, something that he is not that good at.

GDS played attacking mid, or hole player as harry calls it, for Mexico, something that harry is looking for to play in Europe, but in pommie land harry is a 442 man only.

Harry's priority is the CL, over the EPl, so much so he is saving Ledley for the qualifiers. If we qualify for the CL, our spending budget goes from about 40 mill to about 80-90 mill.

If we dont qualify and only play Europa, our spending will decrease to about 40mill, thats why we wont be getting involved in any transfers for a few weeks.

If you want to know who our marquis targets are, just look for media reports where players or agents are saying that they are remaining loyal to their existing clubs ;-)

Sampdoria and Dyanmo Kyiv are teams to avoid. Auxerre and Braga should pose no real threat but maybe away you will have a tougher time than at WHL and Young Boys should be an easy passage. Avoid the good team in Sampdoria and terrible away trip to Ukraine and Spurs should be alright.
