As a side note - what does Dougy have to do to get his teammates to actually take catches off of his bowling?

AUS 4/360 @ stumps
Katich 124 (ret hurt with bruised arm)
Ponting 93
North 52*
Hughes 24
McDonald 23
Haddin 23
Johnson 12*

I wouldn't be surprised if this is the 1st test team with Hussey in for Bolly or Hilfy, with Clarke under an injury cloud.

North certainly making a stake for MacDonald spot. Hughes I hear got a ripper of a delivery but looked promising in his stay at the crease.

Some papers this morning say Clarke is really doubtful to play 1st test. In that case the XI should be...

Hughes
Katich
Ponting
North
Hussey
McDonald
Haddin
Johnson
Siddle
Hilfenhaus
McGain

Bollinger

Would be a massive blow losing Clarke, he has been our form batter and that would leave our batting seriously inexperienced.

I think they should go with the same XI but change the batting order

Katich
Hughes
Ponting
Hussey
North
Haddin
Ronald
Johnson
Siddle
Hilfenhaus
McGain

I rate Haddin as a better batsman than McDonald.

I'd just put Johnson in as the allrounder and play an extra bowler or batsman. On a flat wicket how effective will McDonald be??

After all Australia's weird desire for an allrounder really started after Flintoff went well against us. Well Flintoff is a bowler who can bat a bit, same with Johnson. North or Clarke (when fit) can chuck down a couple of overs of spin if we need a bit of variation.
