Transfer Rumour Mill

Spurs hit the lottery. That's over €70m than he's really worth.

I don't really understand why they're so desperate to get him (besides Neymar) because he's not as good as Ronaldo (or Di Maria) and nowhere near as marketable as a true galactico signing.

He'll end up at Man U in 2-3 seasons.

As you say Neymar has a lot to do with it. Once he was signed Madrid had to get Bale to show they were still the biggest club in Spain.

I can here the howls of laughter from Catalonia already that Madrid think Bale is twice the player Neymar is.

You know what would be the funniest thing of the transfer season?

If Spurs could get Madrid to throw Benzema or Di Maria in the deal just so the Goners don't get him

That'd be up there with Willian turning down Liverpool for apparent "non-football reasons"

Its not serious, nothing has been offered apart from a verbal about a month ago, still no offer in writing and as of last night they are refusing to budge from their initial verbal offer of €85 million which has been rejected.

Media speculation.

And just on Flamini, he has been very good for Milan and they will miss him however he is past his best and they seem to be cashing in on him while he still has some sort of value. On current form I would not expect him to be first choice DM at the Goons.

When Cristiano Ronaldo transferred to Real Madrid for £80m

-He was 24
-He won 3 EPL titles
-He won 2 League Cups
-He won 1 FA Cup
-He won 1 Champions League
-He won 1 club World Cup
-Semi final of a World Cup
-Euro 2004 runner up

Gareth Bale is 24

Spurs are very shrewd on the transfer market, they get players for a decent price and sell for highly inflated sums

The worry for Real, and a BIG worry at that, is that Bale is very much a confidence player. The spotlight and pressure that goes with playing for Real for that sort of fee could crush him.

But make no mistake about it. He is a sensational player. Anyone who thinks Di Maria is better must have mental issues.

And I suspect Neymar is better, but he has to prove it first in Europe (which I'm sure he will).

Having said all that, anything close to 100 million is an obscene amount of money. No way is he worth that much ... only Messi is atm when factoring in both age and quality.

In the current climate I'd pay 50 million Euros for Bale and nothing more. Lamela is top quality and could be just as good in 3 years when he's 24. And it'll cost 35 million! Crazy.

Lol at Madrid. Another reminder why I hate them so much.

Yep. Who'd be stupid enough to pay 69 million plus for a player and give up another player who is just as good at the same time.

I expect he'll be sold to Milan at a 45 million dollar loss next season.....oh wait.
