Things are heating up. Looking more likely he'll be in Spain before the transfer window closes.

Gareth Bale: Carlo Ancelotti hints at Real Madrid bid

Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti has indicated for the first time that his club are in talks to sign Gareth Bale.

His comments follow speculation that Real are preparing a bid in excess of the world record £80m fee they paid for Cristiano Ronaldo in 2011.

Ancelotti told a news conference at Real's training camp in Los Angeles: "I believe the club is in talks to find a solution and we will see what happens."

Bale, 24, has told Tottenham that he wants a move to the Spanish giants.

However, it is believed no formal bid has yet been submitted by Real.

Bale reported to Spurs' training ground on Wednesday morning, undergoing treatment on the leg injury which forced him to miss their last two pre-season matches.

Ancelotti was asked about the possibility of Real Madrid adding Wales international Bale to his squad this summer.

"It is difficult to talk about Bale because he is not a Real Madrid player at present," he added.

"I have never spoken to him. I do not usually talk to players who are not from my team and it would not be fair to do so."

Former Chelsea boss Ancelotti, who took charge at the Bernabeu earlier this summer after leaving Paris St-Germain, added that former Tottenham playmaker Luka Modric would not be returning to White Hart Lane as part of any deal for Bale.

"It is not true that Modric is going. He is a very important player for us and he will be here this season," the Italian added.

Bale, who joined Spurs in a £10m deal from Southampton in 2007, was named as the Player of the Year in both the Professional Footballers' Association and Football Writers' polls last season after scoring 26 goals for the White Hart Lane side.

I read somewhere that Real Madrid have only paid Spurs 20% of Modric's transfer fee so far.

Given that, why would they consider selling Bale to them when it could take forever to receive the entire fee?

Absurd that they can get away with it.

We are delighted to announce that we have reached agreement with Valencia for the transfer of Roberto Soldado subject to medical.

The striker netted 80 times in 146 appearances during his time at the Mestalla who he joined from Getafe in 2010, after impressing with a tally of 29 goals in 60 league appearances.

Tell us what you think about our new centre forward. ‪#‎THFC‬

I'm just thankful we got Soldado. He's probably the highest quality striker we've had since Berbatov, but we will have to see how he goes. No pressure!

Word is Bale may be sold, but we should expect two other top quality signings aside from Soldado if we do. Who knows at this point?

A lot of money for a 28 year old who has never been anything close to approaching a world beater.

Man utd paid that for RVP who is twice the player Soldado is.

If Bale stays, Spurs will easily finish top 4. The Goners will soon have to play in Europe on Thursday nights...
