Last time he left he took a few players with him...API was one of them.

he leaves expect a few players to go with him.

I agree. When a team is doing well (like the Panthers) players leave for a better opportunity.

Sadly it happens.

If Barrett leaves (and that's a big IF) I'd like to think the club employs another attack coach. Because it's not a strength of Cleary (at the moment)

I'm sure the club will keep who they want to keep. Players like playing for clubs that are winning, stable, have good facilities.

and rightly so. Question though does Barrett want the job at the dogs. It doesn't look real stable and lots of factions within the board.
He will get 3 million to spend. They get there cap money back next year.He will get a 3 year deal .Big opportunity for him.The dogs will be hoping he punches a few of our kids as well

If Trent goes to the Dogs can he please take Mansour and Whare with him

Why would you say that John.

Loyalty is a two way thing.

Mansour and Whare have been two of our most loyal servants in our 50 year history.

They deserve respect and loyalty from us as fans given what they gave up to stay loyal to us.

Mansour could have gone to Canberra some years ago but back flipped on a deal to resign with us on far less money.

Whare signed a long term modest deal which gave him security but not the big bucks he could have earned had he have gone to the Warriors.

We are where we are now because of the likes of Mansour and Whare. Are they crucial to our future no there not because clearly they are coming to the end of there careers but they have just as big a part of where we are now as the high profile younger superstars we have in our ranks.

Let’s show our two Panthers greats in Mansour and Whare the dignity that they have earnt and deserve.

Mansour has been one of my favourite players over the last 10 years but regretably his best days are gone. Whare has been average for the last 2/3 years. My point is if offloading these two players allows us to keep all of our good younger players I know which way I would go.

I understand your point but it is not the way to do business.

You have to show the same respect the way the players in question respected us.

They deserve better than just being thrown on the scrap heap.

They have contracts and we should honour them unless they get better offers elsewhere to extend there careers.

Assuming the players off contract at the end of this season not being resigned should allow sufficient money to upgrade extend the players we want to keep long term.

Mansour and Whare are not on huge deals and even if they are not automatic selections in our top 17 for 2021 I don’t think it will impact on our ability to resign the must keep players.

The two players in question deserve respect, they have earnt it.

According to ch7 Bulldogs have approahed Penrith to talk to Trent Barrett for an interview.

I don't begrudge Barrett getting another gig but I feel uneasy with this. A few rumours floating around they are interested in Crichton and Burton recently.

There are always clubs sniffing round players.

Crichton brother plays with the club. So it could happen.

Burton if he gets impatient the same.

Both could also choose to stay.

Barrett may not get the jon. Although at this stage it appears likely he will.

I suggest he gets some armour plate for his back, so he can get the knives out when he begins at the dogs. They do know who to have a factional fight.

It would be better for him if he didn't. Their roster is worse than Manly and all the football I.Q in the world won't help. He should build his rep here and get a better job later.

I agree.

It will be fascinating to see what happens. Perhaps he was burnt a little by his time at Manly.

If Manly had factions, dogs have them big time.

This from daily telegraph

'There are other powerful figures at Penrith who believe Barrett is happy at the club and doesn't want to coach Canterbury'

'Barrett has told friends he won't rush into any decision after his modest three year coaching stint as Manly coach where he won just 29 of 73 games'

Apparently Brandy rang Trent and stated 'we won't stand in his way' and if he wants to move on next year and be a head coach 'that's the nature of the beast'.

I can remember a time the Bulldogs would promote from within for their next head coach.
Anderson, Foakes and Moore
Times change. Now they just poach and stuff things up.

The Dogs would be far better off with Griffin but he will cost more. He could get the current Dogs side to the lower reaches of the finals by making them supremely fit. Beats the heck out of running last.

I think you'll find Griffin will have his eye set on the two QLD jobs (Brisbane and NQ). Warriors third. Dogs last as they have by far the least talented squad.

I have been wondering how Griffin would go under the new rules with the faster ruck and fatigue being more of an issue as the game goes on. My guess is that, with his ability to coach very high levels of fitness, that he would do even better than he did with the Panthers.
