Trent Merrin attack on innocent defenceless souths player.

Because if not for him the brawl doesn't start?

Farrell did the right thing by not moving with an unconscious body on him and he gets attacked for it.

Anyone who argues GI deserved the bin has to say Merrin did as well.

That is some prime BS, even by your normal standards.

I would consider it a grave injustice if the media did not highlight this incident, with a view to making sure that Trent Merrin is appropriately scrutinised by the match review committee as well.

When did Michael Maguire get an account on LU?

It's dawned on me that whilst the media continue to wax lyrical about the Greg Inglis hit, a rather disgusting act that occurs seconds later is going overlooked.

If you watch the play immediately following the Inglis hit very closely, Dylan Farrell, who actually completes the legal tackle of Dean Young and cannot be accused of anything untoward, is attacked by Trent Merrin from behind. Merrin starts throwing bombs whilst Farrell is lying on the ground.

What follows is the melee, where Merrin and Luke Burgess are cautioned.

In the last week, we've seen Craig Field and Kieran Loveridge charged with murder by the result of assaults of this nature. Hitting a bloke from behind is never ok.

Have a look at the replay on NRL.com, you'll see what I'm taking about.

I will take issue with only one small component of your post. I would argue that the media should be the last party involved in examining the incident.

What we need is less media bullsh!t and more proactive, common sense, and consistent MRC and judicairy.

Look closer at the footage...He's swinging into Farrell. he's not pushing him at all!!!

Where? Merrin gives him one push, Farrell forgets all about his (according to Dunniesman) saintly concern for Young & jumps straight up. Edit: Immediately after this point, the only player showing concern for Young's safety with the melee on top of him is Cooper.

I thought the most touching moment was at the point where Smith says, "...and the Rabbitohs wanted to go on with it." If you look closely at that point, Inglis & Soward are all but cuddling!

Farrell took part in a blue OVER the unconcious body you spastic.
Cool story bro. Watch the whole incident dickhead. He's sitting there not moving with his legs under Young and Merrin comes across and hits him for no reason. Ofcourse at that point Farrell is going to defend himself.

Merrin started the brawl and it could have led to his mate being in more danger.

Farrell pushed Merrin First, as I have pointed out with video evidence in the other thread.

Souths fans must be blind...

Also should be noted that the SGI trainer puts his body on the line to protect Young while the fight is going on over the top. Not sure who the bloke in orange is, but gutsy bloody effort. Trent Merkin could learn a bit from that bloke about looking after your team mate.

Merrin didn't run in. He was standing looking at Young and Farrell tripped him up (accidentally). Merrin obviously thought Farrell tried to trip him deliberately, and gave him a shove. Then Farrell leaped up, forgetting all about his supposed concern for Young. Both of them are idiots. Then we had the charge of the light brigade as 4 souffs dickheads ran in and trampled Young trying to get to Merrin.

I agree.

Trent Merrin should be charged with murder immediately.

As Bwaith would say - You're off ya f**kin head!

Dylan was simply trying to get Merrin in a better position to engage in CPR post haste. Dylan's hand was raised simply in a gesture to intone the divine intervention of the almighty to come to the aid of the stricken Young. This is clearly the beginning of what should become a game wide movement to petition the Vatican for the canonisation of Autralia's second saint.

The future Saint Dylan of Homebush should be applauded for his humanitarian efforts to not move himself from under the prostrate body of his fallen combatant comrade. Unable to administer the kiss of life himself because of his situation he merely tried to encourage Merrin to do so. Merrin, clearly an advocate for Lucifer himself, tried to sabotage this eventuality by savagely and brutally, and with malice aforethought, pushing Dylan in the ribs!! Can you belive that, the brute!

All that is now required is for the humble and angelic Dylan to be seen to perform a number of miracles to proceed with the canonisation process. I think that we can all agree that being part of a Souths team that makes the 8 would undoubtedly constitute the first such miracle. If they make they top 4, a second miracle would be witnessed by all and sundry. A 21st Premiership after 41 long years of waiting would be the equvalent a the biblical 40 days and nights in the desert and would clearly represent a triumverate of miracles.

The outcome would be indisputable, and the arrival of Saint Dylan of Homebush would be welcomed joyously by all of the RL faithful!!

Of course it could just be that both Farrell and Merrin are bonehead footy players, but I'm a man of faith so here's hoping.

Merrin had no business being there. Once the trainer is there everyone knows idiot meatheads with no medical training are hardly needed.
