Agree your post Love my Saint except that Dugan is worth it (reported $700k). Josh is really worth about $450k. Doesn't mean I don't like him but let's be realistic he didn't threaten much last year. See what he does this year. Would love SKD from roosters who is more dangerous and faster than Josh at half the $.

Yes I know he will be fullback this year but $700k is huge coin guys. Go Josh and find that Canberra form from 3 years ago.

Not to sure what Duges is on, but whatever it is not enough ;-).
I am just a huge fan of his mate, so a little tongue in cheek. He is an athlete, moved around last year from FB to centre ( I prefer him at 1 ), but he is a game breaker.

Seems really happy at the Club, from what I can see anyway.

On his day, this kid can be very special. Like i said, I'm biased, and even named my Dog after him lol.

Fair enough Trusaint and 'Duges' is a great name for a dog, something like a Doberman would be Josh, strong and lean.

I want Josh to find that form of 3 to 4 years ago. The $700k came from media reports, like Benji $500 k and Gareth $550k. He just didn't threaten that much last year. I believe when you are on that coin ( granted may not be that much, but think it is) you should not be a freak from time to time but like a Slater, Hayne, Inglis etc.

Maybe that 5 kgs extra last year meant he sacrificed some sharpness. Go back and look at some of those raiders youtube tributes and he was magic. Trys galore from impossible situations. You pay big coin for a player to do that reasonably consistently. Not now and again make a good run over 20 metres or so and competently tackle and be part of a 1 st grade team.

I want him to succeed and hope that back at fullback and not too much bulking up may see a return to the player he can be.

Fine post buddy.

The interesting thing is, as highlighted above, many of his magical memories were against us. FMD lol.

The debate between centre and FB will continue, its only my humble opinion that he thrives in open spaces, broken defensive lines and not having to tackle 20 plus times in the line.

The only issue i would take on your post is one of consistency. I believe overall he is, but 2 issues arise. Playing for a new club with different structures / and now coaches in a short period, and being shifted from position to position.

He will come good... In Duges we trust.
Gotta go now and feed the other Duges :D

Thats the good thing about Duges. Give him 5kg of raw meat a day and he'll run forever ;-)

The trouble with Dugan is the way he plays from FB (ripping and tearing) means that he is more likely to get injured. Be interested to know how many games he has missed through injury over the years. We need a full injury free season out of the Duges and we will well on the way to a successful season.

Just checked it on NRLCEO.com. As of June 24th 2014 Josh Dugan had only manges to play 66% of his total games played since his debut in 2003. He has played 186 out of 282 in that time. He missed nearly 100 game with injury in that time. A lot when you are paying $700k a season. I personally don't mind what position he plays for the team as long as he stays on the field.

He has been underperforming but that is due to others underperforming. There were question marks over Hayne after 2009 (change in position, trouble with coach) but then he started putting performances together, realised his potential and became a true superstar (not just hype). It would not surprise me if Dugan does the same in 2015.

Duges has the world at his feet with Hayne off the scene.
He can cement the NSW fullback position and has the opportunity to challenge Inglis for the Oz role post Slater if he steps up. That is an enormous ask, but given Inglis' own issues with injuries at times it's a realistic goal.
It's time to rip in and have a huge year.

Good post. I think the change of position factored alot, as well as playing behind a beaten pack most weeks. I honestly believe in 2015 we wont be as dominated in the middle as we have been the last 2 or 3 years.
And i think with a full off season together benji and widdop will form one of the best halves combos in the nrl. And the likes of dugan will show what they got.
There is no denying he is one freaky player, opposition teams will struggle to pin point who they will target in defence, widdop marshall dugan? We have play makers that will tear teams apart in 2015 if our forwards play to there potential.

I believe it would be in the Club's best interest and the player's best interest if Merrin played in the prop position and Dugan played at fullback. This would allow De Belin to be the run on lock and give him a chance to go to the next level in 2015.

Merrin was absolutely great as a prop early on and Dugan was magic at fullback for the Dragons in his first few games.

Plenty of excuses for Dugan I see, but none for Merrin. Funny.

Good point, must be said.

I have to take the wrap here grouch.

If Dugan leaves i would have to rename my dog :(

He barely listens now, how's he gonna respond when I call him "Kas" ;-)
