All with no FG experience. Luai looks like our backup halfback too but I guess it is what we want but doesn't help us get battle hardened

Luai looked good in the world cup. Easily the best of his team. That's got to count for something. The club will have to make them battle hardened.

Yes he is, be still your beating heart????

Just being dramatic because I am hoping our 10 year spine has Cleary, Edwards, Egan and a good 6(Probably Luai)

Luke Walsh had played like 20 odd more NRL games than Moylan when they both left us and Burns only played a couple more than that lol what are you even on about??? IF Walsh is hardened then so is Bryce Cartwright, what a joke.

FTR I didn't even say they weren't hardened, I said they were shit and implied the fact they were vets doesn't mean anything if they aren't up to it. God you waffle on.
I try to be nice, but you can't help but be abusive. I realise it's my fault, so I apologise Betcats, I forgot you struggle to process information. I'll type slower for you.

Luke Walsh had played 120 games for the Panthers and the Knights, Travis Burns 127 games for Manly, the Cowboys and the Panthers. The generally accepted benchmark for an NRL player to be called a fully blown first grader, is 50 games. I'm not sure what Matt Moylan has to do with whether Cleary coached rookie halves or not, but I'm sure it makes sense to you.

I'm no fan of Burns and Travis but they have managed to play first grade after they left us, albeit in Super League so they are obviously better than "shit" as you called them. They also managed to get us to 2nd in 2012. Still, I'm sure the coach would have preferred to have two rookies instead of them that year, because, as you say, they are shit.

I asked earlier. Why no one else has young halves if it is as simple as putting them in. I mean the Coaches son at the Sharks smashed all records yet they went all in for Pearce and Moylan.

Even into his 3rd season of FG Cleary is still the youngest half. Yet we are meant to fire in attack. No chance

Yeah a lot of inexperienced players as expected.

But the biggest shock to me was Jed Cartwright missing out. I genuinely think he could be good in first grade as a centre or second rower

I totally agree. I think it possibly was Ivan's time to go, he did look 'tired' :)eek:). I do think he was on the verge of being burnt out. Those first couple of years with Gus and Ivan were brutal. Remember Lewis throwing his toys out of the cot, (I've heard mutterings it was an ice berg type of thing). Jennings too, although Jennings was mature enough to say that 'he did need a kick up the bum' his work ethic, (for what he was being paid, his work ethic stunk.

Jed is there and WILL be a great second rower if he gets the silly offloads out of his game,
Love seeing Hetherington there, kids got a bit of mongrel in him, love that
Also good to see Kade Ellis as back up lock for Merrin
Katoa though has me concerned about where he is in the pecking order

Katoa is listed under Griffin at the bottom of the list for some reason. Might just be an error when they posted it. He's one of the 30.

I got a little note from the post office late today, hopefully that's mine. A 6 game pass (I live in regional NSW and can only get down for a couple of games each season). Exciting times. :D

Jed's there, you must have missed him.
No i went through the NSW Cup section and saw him there. Didnt think they would double players up.

Looking again so are Bryce Cartwright, Tui Loso and Hetherington. So 4 players (mayne more) doubled up. Bryce atleast is definitely a top squad player.

Tyrone Phillips is in Bulldogs and us. Slade Griffin in Storm so I think the IT team from the NRL still has work to do tweeking things

Slade Griffin joined the Knights and Tyrone Phillips did actually join us, which is an underrated signing considering he's good enough to start in a few first grade teams.

What teams would that be? Certainly isn't ours.

Or the Bulldogs and their backline was trash. I think he's ok as a backup player. But no way he's an NRL regular at any club. If he was he would be a fool not to sign there.

With Maloney in the halves now id give Katoa first crack at the 9, Egan will eventually be our long term hooker you'd think but we looked better last year with katoa rather then Wallace. That being said I am expecting Egan to debut sooner rather than later.
