It’s the players that get us into the finals, not the coaches. If the players are happy with Hook, he’s the right coach.

Ivan was too soft on them, he wanted to be everyone’s best mate. Young teams need discipline. Hopefully Hook will get the best out of them next year and beyond.

Late post regarding Lurker debate but I had to chip in.

The guy is a pest. To such an extent I made a parody account of him on Twitter with joke takes and a couple of wild guesses on where players will end up.

You won't believe it, but I nailed several player movements even before him or any other fraudulent ITK's said anything. I literally got more things right than he did. A parody account of an 'ITK' doing better than the 'ITK' being parodied...hilarious.

Ive got no issue with what Ivan said either FWIW but I think it’s different. He was disappointed about a result, his emotions probably got the better of him.

Whether you agree with his view or how he said it or not, Griffins outburst was clearly calculated. It was pretty obvious attempt to shift the pressure and given the results after that, he’d probably argue it worked.

Amazes me how personally people took those comments.

We made week 3 of finals. Even if its an arsey win....

Cleary took us to the top 4. Then beat a top 4 team to make week 3. Two things Hook is yet to do.

Cleary never had the squad Hook did. He started out with the likes of Walsh and Burns in the halves, both Naiqama boys fighting for backline spots, a pack consisting of the likes of Newton, Ciraldo etc. While we waited for our young guys to develop.

When our academy was all setup with a good production line of players ready to support an ready strong top 17 he got sacked. He built an NRL team. While Brennan developed NRL ready players.

But I'm afraid I can't see the point getting all steamed up (for or against) about long-term speculation about player contracts.

It's mostly a media driven myth mate. What started out as some vague answers to loaded questions has taken on a life of it's own. Each new article gets embellished just a little. The latest one I read had the Clearys in a "pact", yes, a f**king pact no less. It's clickbait for insecure Penrith fans and desperate West fans. No other club will get near Nathan.

Griffin had his own obstacles to deal with, not to the extent of Cleary that year but it’s not as clear cut as you make it out.

No coach has it perfect. The team Griffin has had is much better than what Ivan did. Either way this isn't a go at Griffin it's pointing out that Ivan is actually a good coach. 2018 will be Griffin’s make or break year for me. Moylan and his alleged poor attitude are gone. We have Maloney coming to partner Cleary. There's really no excuses. Really want us to get top 4 and believe we can but if we don't improve it'll be disappointing.

We had will smith playing in the halves for weeks and made the top four did we not? Did that not happen? Arse one win lol what bias garbage.

Griffin got a gun side to scrape into the 8 twice against soft competition(Goulds words) with the softest draw you can imagine for two years running. If he can get us to the top four then I will be impressed, but so far in his two years in charge we have gone backwards.
