So it was all the refs fault??? Good to know i still might purchase my World club challenge tickets.
Here's a tip: we won't be the best team in the comp this year. You should've known that prior to last night's game. And the type of game that suits us is one where the refs enforce the rules, like they did in the first half of 2020.

He beat D Brown with a left foot step and got in between him and the back row edge defender who also missed him. That’s our right edge.
Your defence should be able to cope with a player getting beaten on the inside. That try was on Lane not giving a f**k, so yes, an edge defender. But one who should only be playing in the middle.

It’s not that Pou. You will always find a positive despite there being plenty of negatives. It’s honourable but boring. I’m probably boring too.
I didn't find any positives in last night's game, at least not about Hipgrave. He's below average, like the majority of backup players. I hope we don't need to use him much. These blokes are ahead of him:

Niukore
Papali'i
Kaufusi
Cartwright

Plus we might be carrying a hooker on the bench in competitive games this year.

Agreed. It was still a try down our right edge though. Lane sucked last year on the edge and appears worse this year. Unfortunately he’s going to be starting there for the first month or so. I can’t stand the lazy disinterested prick.

Look, Penrith have had a chip on their shoulder ever since we beat them last year.

Of course they were going to come out breathing fire, trial or not.

Meanwhile, we didn't really have anything to gain from giving 100%.

This was basically a match fitness run.

You don't think swapping the edges our halves and second rowers play on is a whole new attacking structure?
Tbh this is the only significant thing to come out of this trial and it really opens up some interesting questions. Will this be the new norm going forward? Was it done for a specific purpose ie. our halves will be playing both sides this year or maybe to give Dylan more opportunities to work on his long kicking game? Then again it could just be some massive BA smokescreen!

We won't???? Well thats disappointing. Oh well i might hold off on the World club challenge. We might not be number 1 on the park but we will always be first in excuses.

If our coach can’t see his limitations maybe he isn’t the coach to lead us forward??? After 8 seasons and he still needs other coaches to hold his hand??? His stubbornness and his refusal to make any changes after we bombed out so badly last season will cost him his job.
He's swapped our halves and edge forwards. That's a significant change.

I reckon it was done for defensive reasons. Drown is a better defender than Moses so they put him next to waqa Blake (who is shit). And Cartwright (also a shit defender) was going to start on the edge so putting him on an edge next to brown is also a better plan than having him and Moses next to each other. It’s not going to make much of a positive or negative difference to our limp attack.

Nathan *Jeff Robson* Cleary would be nothing without his 6 who is the creative half. The best trick shot chin boy has is “turn it inside” to a forward.

Everybody seems to acknowledge this except you.
Gee Gronky. Did Cleary kick your dog? I reckon he played some outstanding footy last year. How do you think it would work out if Mitch and Cleary swapped teams?

Didn't give me any confidence for the coming season.
We played the NRL premiership favourites (TAB $5) on their home ground. Do you reckon you might've gotten more confidence if we had trialled against the Dragons (TAB $51) at Bankwest instead?

Maybe we want to give Mitch more help with ball playing as Guth favours the left side sweep? Maybe we're looking at post-Mitch Eels? Dylan moved to the right with Arthur playing on the LHS in reggies. Could be that we're looking for Dylan to stand up and have full control of that right side attack whilst Mitch and Guth share responsibility on the left?

Whatever the reason for the swap, I don't believe we'd play them on opposite sides in the major trial if we weren't going to do it throughout the season.

It's the same shit in reverse, side to side crap that struggles to threaten the top sides. Hmmmmmm it seems we have seen this movie before......
The top sides have good inside pressure in defence. The solution is obviously not to go around them but in a trial match where you want to get merkins involved you have to pass the ball.

Don't forget we averaged 19.6 points per game last year but 24ppg in the finals against better teams. Our team is built to go through the middle, and without a quick play-the-ball (the Panthers didn't give us many of those last night and the refs let them) hit ups is most of what you'll see from this team.

I wondered the same but then JA also played on the right, even though he wasn't on for long. And I don't know if Will Smith is terrible on the right, so JA it was. Or maybe BA did it so Moses doesn't twig and throw a tantrum.
