Thats not the case. But even if it was, its a Cronulla "stipulated" game anyway, so it'd be even funnier if it was ;-)

And for what its worth, the boys looked pretty good at training today. Looked as if they were enjoying themselves, no sign of team disharmony which is always good :D

Matthew White

Cory Paterson

Richard Fa’aoso

Some interesting selections there.
No Uate.
Tolar ahead of a few.
Houston ahead of Patto
Lulia ahead of the doogs.

This would be close to my pick of the starting side for round 1. Like I said Royal, Tolar, White and Simpson are doing good things together in defence and breaking the advantage line well in attack, not the most intimidating looking forward pack but I guess see how they go in defence as a unit instead of judging them on individual merrit.. I say Patterson will begin in the starters side once he gets his conditioning back. I thought Fa' aoso would start but I guess B. Smith likes his impact players to be fresh. Danny Wicks is proly there to get a guage on form since he hasnt had a chance to play yet. Can't really see why Aku is not there, maybe still a bit raw for them right now. There is some stiff competition for the backs so dont be suprised if the doogs dont make the cut for rd 1 if they dont impress. You would expect them to though. And I think I have said it would be a Mullo/Bailey halves combination enough times already.

The lower grades
The NYC side won 26-22. It sounds like a close game, but the Knights went out cold as ice and gave away 18 points in the first 20 minutes, then clicked into gear and scored 26 points while totally dominating before Cronulla gat a try with a minute to go.
The guy who started at hooker had some good moves, but he didn't have any organisational skills, and the side didn't click till Tyne Owen came on and got them organised.
Marty Paulson started at halfback and he looked a bit nippy when running, but he threw maybe 5 or 6 dreadful passes behind guys and broke down attack after attack. Burraston didn't look half as good running with the ball, but he threw good passes and did a few brilliant kicks.
Callan Richardson looked back to 2006 form, and Simon Williams was fabulous but injured himself late in the game. Issacs looks like a bigger, faster version of Williams, but he isn't as strong and doesn't have the same brilliant handling.
Dobbins played strongly for 60 minutes or so and looks bigger and harder. He is becoming a Simmo clone.
Edwards played good minutes and pulled off some bell ringers.
Wyborn is much bigger and could be the big improver.
