Triple J Hottest 100 - Who will win??

Coin Operated Boy - that's a really whacked out track, but I don't mind it.

I have a real sneaking suspicion that it'll be Scar. Odds on favourite - an Australian number 1 in this list is quite regular.

I think the typical JJJ audience is probably over both Missy Higgins and Spiderbait at this stage...I think Franz has pretty much got it won - it still appeals to both JJJ and non-JJJ listeners that would vote. I really hope Modest Mouse does well - such a good track. Also Snow Patrol has has some great tracks this year and deserves to be right up there (Spitting Games, Wow, Gleaming Auction, Whatever's Left).

I reckon it will be Coin Operated Boy by the Dresden Dolls

It fits all the characteristics you need to top the hotest 100

1. It has novelty value
2. It has come out near the end of the year

lets hope so

this is without a doubt one of the most catchiest songs ever

they said on the net 50 a couple of weeks back that it was a dark horse for hottest 100 number 1

Because it's a great song by a local artist that Triple J had on heavy rotation. Very unlikely it will win however, the top spot usually goes to a generic faux alternative indie band - not even the great Hey Ya! could beat Jet last year. That ridiculous result jaded my opinion of the Hottest 100, so this year I will be voting for Williams Shatner's cover of Common People.

but you have left a few real dark horses off your potential winner list in "Float On" by Modest Mouse and "Godhopping" by Dogs Die In Hot Cars. "Zebra" was in last years Hottest 100 and isn't eligible this year...

"zebra" was too, my mistake

"float on" will be up there

"i love you cause i have to" will be higher than "godhopping" for dogs die in hot cars i would think

therefore my revised top 10 would be

1. Scar - Missy Higgins
2. Take me out - Franz Ferdinand
3. Somebody Told Me - The Killers
4. Its Too Late - Evermore
5. A song is a city - Eskimo Joe
6. Beautiful to Me - Little Birdy
7. Mr Brightside - The Killers
8. Somewhere down the Barrel - The Dissociatives
9. Coin Operated Boy - Dresden Dolls (this gets my vote)
10. Somewhere only we know - Keane

'Girl Anachronism' rules.

Triple J (for better or worse) discovered Missy Higgins. Without them she's still be playing pubs in Melbourne - no doubt.

Not being biased, but I reckon Living End's latest song will make the 100, I dont care if its 50. :D

Jet would have in there as well, Cold Hard B1tch and Look What You've Done, unless they made last year's.

It's weird that songs like that, written many years ago, can still be eligible for the best song of 2004, Ala` that crappy Nirvana song that people loved about 2 years ago
