Trivia Night

I am glad everyone had a great time.

Hopefully next time they will put the event on at a time when people who work outside the Parramatta area can make the event without the need of taking a half day or some other short cut (Starting Early / Flexi time) to get there.

I have already passed that comment on to the club.

I am also a member of the supporters club, and their meetings start at 7:00pm. After the train Home, then out to Parramatta leagues with enough time to drop my things and pick up a quick bite to eat it is tough to make it on time.

Rowdy would like to complain about the timing also - she was quite hungry by the time it all finished. I thought she was going to eat Mitchell Allgood!

Toyota Cup players with Iphones come in rather handy when trying to identify movies from obscure clues.

MITS

It started around 6:30pm by the time everyone sat down.

I had three members of my table who work in town and got in at just before 7pm and still got over an hour worth of trivia in.

It didn't start spot on 6pm which is never the case most times.

7pm would of been better but that means the event goes past 9pm and kids have school the next day and most of the adults there have work also.

Then maybe next time I could be held on a different day, Maybe a Friday night during the a Bye week would be more appropriate for this sort of event.

Sure some players may want to "get away" during the week of the bye and they might be sent to freshen up, but I don't think a 2 hour evening with Fans on a Friday or Saturday night would be that big a push for them.

It would be ideal to have it in a bye week but the draw had our bye a while ago so the trivia night had to take place in a normal NRL fixture round otherwise we would of had to wait till next year.

There is also an Open Training Session on Monday at 6pm with Nathan Cayless announced last night also

These events are hard to schedule cause of factors like working in the city, kids schooling, players availability (eg Ben Smith had TAFE last night), etc

it was a stretch, but it was a one off, and we were given plenty of notice to make arrangements with our respective work places...

i've got no problem with it!

I suggested the Bye week thing in the report, so the club has had that suggestion for over a year now. The new board would also have that information for several months if what Futures has said in the past was correct.

On another tack while at the Supporters club meeting this month, the Trivia night was bought up, and many didn't know about it because they don't have email.

While Email is great for getting regular communication out their it should not replace written communication completely, we have a news letter that goes out in 4 times a year, it should contain a calender that goes at least 3 months in advance for events.

In my opinion, Events should be planned and calendered in during the off season, extra events can be popped up, like an open training session or a signing session at a shopping centre, but events like the Fan day, Fan fourms, stadium tours, Trivia Nights and the like should be booked and ready to go months in advance, considering the NRL draw is released in the Grand Final Week.

Either way yes we got a Trivia night, but it could and should have been executed better and hopefully in the future it will be.

if they planned and promoted this event within a couple of weeks it would have missed all newsletters??

it was a stretch, but it was a one off,

See Jess, that is the thing though, it was not a one off. The Club has form on this, Last years Stadium Tour and STH fourms all started early, and I needed to take personal time to attend them. This year the STH forum and Trivia Night as well as the well timed Open Training session on a Friday night before a Monday game that was over from all reports by 7:00pm instead of going till the 8:00pm advertised time.

and we were given plenty of notice to make arrangements with our respective work places...

i've got no problem with it!

As I said, People without E-mails didn't get as much notice, also when you consider that it was limited spaces and you had to make a decision as soon as the E-mail came out, if it was at a more appropriate time I am sure more people would have opted to attend as we would not have had to make arrangements with our work places.

I meant the Trivia Night was a one off - I can understand the need for a 6pm start, as it was a function with a set start and finish time. Much later then 8.30 and the kids would have started to get cranky/sleepy.
You know that i agree with you for Training Sessions/Forums/etc as they are much more relaxed.

And im sorry, i can't find your logic with your second point. If it were emailed and posted at the same time - people with access to emails would STILL have taken all the player tables, and people who had to wait for the post would STILL have missed out??

I was on table 16... we were "One Eyed Eel" after the "other" forum i frequent.

We tied for first place... so they threw in a rubbish question about the amount of fireplaces in the White house. We said 63.

Apparently the other table said 28 and were spot on! Well done on their part ;-)

It was a great night.. we had a blast. Special mention to Junior Paulo for his above average knowledge... and for Weller Hauraki who tried to SMS him for answers! :D

  If I didn't know everyone on my table I woulda sworn you were on mine.. That's exactly what Joel did

Though we still didn't figure it out, Jess eventually got it I think the 3rd time?
