i really would like to bone Rachel McAdams

You can just tell one of the other dudes is going to hook up with her in some nasty bondage anal session, all in line with the hedonism theme this series

Great episode, Kitsch is obviously a closet homo who's mum abused him and
Ray's 'death' is just a red herring.

My main criticism is how it jumps around between characters and scenes but overall so far it's enjoyable

Was ok, it's not reaching any great heights but it's not boring and otherwise inoffensive.

And to be fair the death fake out does serve a purpose pushing him to answer if he wants to live or not, only it's about the hundredth time a near death experience has been used that way in a character story.

Anyone else think Taylor Kitsch looks a little like James Maloney?

Still something a bit... off, about this season. Maybe the moody staring was back too much for my liking or something. I find I'm genuinely interested in the actual story, but that the character building isn't working for me; particularly for Kitschs' character more than anyone else.

I think it's the director, in S1 every episode had the same writer and the same director, Cary f**kunaga kept everything tight and got the actors to play off each other well.

I like S2 so far but the directing is handled by several people this time and as a result it isn't as consistent.

That scene where they just kept saying 'stridency' and 'apoplectic' seemed like really amateur scriptwriting - look! hard kents have wide ranging vocabulary!

Getting a little put off by Vaughan's forced facial expressions too.

I think the next episode is going to explode. hence the title of episode 3, hence the last line of episode 3. I don't think the first 3 have been as bad as what people are saying.

S1 peaked at episode 4-5 IMO. this series it looks to me as if Nic wants it to peak much later. but im still predicting a big episode 4.

I definitely think theres something bigger at play again this series. Either Ray staged the shooting or Paul didn't come across that body by accident. I mean why was it put there?

Good episode, best of this series so far. Still not convinced by many of the lead actors (Farrell is good) and I still get confused but the constant jumping around from scene to seemingly unconnected scene.

Shit was intense. Chick detective picked up the gun the gumby cop shot the civilian with, she's gone career wise. Wonder if this is like the first season, they've "solved" the case as there's a handful of bodies they can pin the murders on, but there's obviously more to it even if they were the trigger men which they probably weren't. Was it a setup? Give the cops the location, phone the crims ahead when the cops are on the ground, then wait for it all to get tied off in one big mess. Or did it all just shake out that way?

Which would leave two possibilities, either the person who tipped the bad guys off was sincere and the first they knew about the raid was when it got laid out in that room before they left to raid, and the tipster phoned ahead to tell the bad guys to cover their tracks and escape, they just didn't have time. Or it was all set up to play out that way, making finding a match for the watch at the random pawn broker the second stroke of coincidental luck the gay army cop has had, the other finding the corpse.

I don't mean to brag, but..

and to continue my theory..

I don't think its luck. I think your close with your second point. The fat cop has been following Paul. Probably longer than we think. Was told to by Vinci people high up (mayor possibly) to follow Paul. Him finding the body was to get him involved in the case.

They were all picked because they have weaknesses - ray is corrupt, ani is a gambler, paul is in the news for all the wrong reasons. the people high up have their no.1 competitor out of the way as casper is dead. he was travelling around looking at the land and investigating the areas that the mayor has blacklisted. a motive is hidden in there.

they have a fake suspect dead, a disaster of a massacre to tarnish the detectives (news crew conveniently close) and a clean slate as no one is willing to take the word of has-been, troublesome cops. the slick Vinci detective that conveniently wasn't apart of the raid will take over and solve it in 5 minutes. him, the black police commissioner dude and the mayor have celebratory drinks.

the series will turn into the 3 characters going rogue and finding the real truth. don't know what Frank has to do with it. Maybe the mayor is a red herring and Frank is pulling the strings.

I'm probably completely wrong..

edit. the vinci mayor didn't want caspers body found in vinci because of the ongoing 'probe' into vinci. two birds one stone. maybe he will get rid of a competitor while throwing ray and frank under the bus, ani and paul are collateral but easy targets.

Obvious the mayor and his cronies set that up, or just following orders from higher up.

You get the feeling Ray, Ani and Paul weren't meant to survive that either since everyone else died.

Thinking about it more I don't think it makes sense for Paul to be dirty at both ends, finding the body and matching the watch, because it works best if the people who orchestrated each are different people working against each other rather than the same.

Killing Kasper wasn't just about f**king with Frank, if it was then there was no reason to place Kasper's corpse strategically where the mayor couldn't just quash it, indeed if it was just about Frank they could have just disappeared the body (and we get those scenes of the murderer driving Kasper out there, suggesting it's all very deliberate). It obviously does have a lot to do with Frank, seeing as they murdered his henchman too, but Frank isn't everything. The murderer wanted the investigation, but as far as we know the investigation hasn't achieved anything yet so why would they be the same people who shut it down?

Unless it has achieved something offscreen, Ray told Ani the investigation was to shake down the mayor, and maybe it has somewhat worked and the mayor has come to the party with whoever is pulling the strings on Ani (is it the state that black woman is working for? Is she a state prosecutor?) and so it was time to shut everything down.

Watching it again, they go out of their way to show the lazy cop watching Paul wasn't in on it. It was his informant that gave them the location and he was watching the place but when they show up he suggests just waiting for the baddies to come outside, and then when shit goes down they show his reaction first and it doesn't look like he's expecting shit. The higher up Vinci cop asked if they needed all these people for the raid at the station, maybe something in that.

My grandfather told me you can discover everything you need to know about everything by looking at your hands. I've been looking at mine all my life, every day since I was 5, and you know what I've just realized? They're f**king feet.

I bet you had a lot of hot wheels as a kid, ran around thinking you were the boss or something. But today's a different day. Look around--we've grown up. And I'll tell you what--I'm the boss now. And your wheels? Well, looks like they weren't so hot after all.

so lols
