Just let the bloke play wher his heart lays. It`s no point the Gold Coast having a player who doesn`t want to be there, they need 100% team harmony to be a success. Steve Turner is a quality up and comer who would be a bit of a loss, but it`s not as if he`s irreplaceable.

screw Turner and the Storm. the Titans are the victims in all of this, not that little sh*t.

as for the verbal thing, didnt bennett agree to verbally join easts? what's to stop easts now claiming a backdown of contract? why dont easts make bennett either coach them or sit out the next 3 years?
i think the difference might be that turner's agreement has been published/witnessed/openly professed, whereas bennett's was secret

So, Turner says he's young and he made a mistake.

This much is true. However, everyone else, young or otherwise, has to live with the consequences of the mistakes they make. It should be no different for him.

Dunno. Why don't you go ask them? Let us know what they say.

Because Bennett was already contracted with the Broncos, thus it was legally impossible for a verbal agreement with Easts to be binding, because he was incapable of contracting himself to anyone else until his Broncos contracts had been terminated.

How many bloody times does this need to be explained?

Pierced Soul, you're a knob

Please show me an email showing intent to sign from Bennett.

Please show Bennett saying on TV he is happy to sign.

Oh thats right, it was all hearsay and speculation.

Turner admits the email, plenty of quotes in the media.

Puletua offers no value to the Titans. Maybe the Titans should give Puletua's
money to Turner and say that they 'suddenly' found another 100k to offer him...

He is only 22. That is old enough to marry/have sex/vote/drive a car/get a loan/buy a house/ sign a legal contract.

Grow up Turner. You have to be accountable for the decision you made and the commitment you gave the GC. Dont play for sympathy, because nobody, inlcuding yourself, really believes it.

Young fool trying to get out of his decision. Have some dignity son.

Bennett still had an existing contact with the Broncos. Forcing him to go through with his verbal agreement with Easts would've meant he'd have to break his contract with the Broncos.

Turner on the other hand was told by the Storm to look elsewhere, he was a free agent.

Puletula wants out because of a GENUINE family reason concerning his wife.

What a whinging little deadbeat, im glad the GC arent backing down (which im sure is what he thought they would do). They were generous enough to offer him a release after 1 season if he still wanted to go, he is just showing how childish he is by rejecting that. He's that little snot of a kid you see at sizzler who throws his peas and broccoli on the floor and throws a tantrum when he doesnt get his way.

Lets weigh up his options.

1. Honour his contract and play for the Titans for 3 years = cop a bit of criticism which will be forgotten by midseason '07
2. Take their generous off of a release after 1 year = get to live on the coast, play fulltime first grade, be seen as a whinging bitch by fans
3. Sit out the next 3 years = fall WAY behind the pace and struggle to make it back into first grade at the storm (even Billy Slater had to fight for his spot back after only 8 weeks out, Steve is no Billy Slater), have absolutly no chance of signing with another club when the storm no longer want him.

Seriously, if it was his wife...then maybe compassionate grounds may have a slim chance of being entertained by the Gold Coast management....this is only a girlfriend...I mean, regardless of how serious it is....he is a footballer and they go through girlfriends like anything so its not much of a leg to stand on...

That's a bit of a gross generalisation, isn't it? I know of many footballers involved in stable relationships, I know plenty of non-footballers who have a "revolving door" installed in their bedrooms - I'd say the percentages are about the same.

Good on the Titans for standing firm, they seem to be the only ones coming out of this in a good light.
