You'll find that since the rebrand and Thodey's hard work as CEO, Telstra's brand image and customer satisfaction ratings are improving rapidly.

Moron that market poll was in late August after the rebrand.

You would know this if you knew anything about marketing.

I did see that market research and it conflicts with Telstra's internal customer satisfaction ratings. Thodey has discussed in countless public announcements that this continues to improve.

Yeah, I did. It was some rubbish report on news.com.au.

Meanwhile, in actual industry news:

Telstra’s colourful rebrand still needs “huge amount of work”

A year on from a total rebrand to try to emotionally connect with its customers, and Telstra still has “a huge amount of work to do”.

Speaking on the first anniversary of the telco’s biggest rebrand in 18 years, director of corporate marketing Inese Kingsmill told B&T: “The obsession of the Telstra business over the past few years under David Thodey has been to improve customer service and give customers the experience they deserve.

“We know we still have a huge amount of work to do there, but the market needed to see that Telstra was not just talking about changing, it was already starting to change. It’s not a small ship to turn, but we’re turning it slowly.”

Kingsmill (pictured) said the rebrand has “exceeded our wildest expectations” in terms of the results it has achieved. The telco added 1.6 million customers in the last financial year and its share price is sitting at a four-year high.

The company’s brand health is looking a lot stronger than it was 18 months ago too. Kingsmill said Telstra’s brand consideration score was hovering between 46% and 48% in early 2011, but it’s now around 61%. “It’s a massive shift in the way Australians feel about us,” said Kingsmill. “It represents about 1.5 million adults who now view Telstra positively and as relevant to them.”

The rebrand, with its bright new colour palette, was designed by Interbrand, DDB Group's brand agency, to reflect the telco’s increased focus on customer service, sales and marketing.

Kingsmill said: “We have evolved our culture to be far more customer-centric. There have been massive internal changes. We have taken all staff through a program that tells them what customer centricity means for them in their roles. And we’ve implemented the Net Promoter Score to build advocacy among our customers.”

So what’s next, as Telstra continues on its mission to better connect with its customers?

“We have a very clear and focused brand strategy and we are determined to continue to evolve the brand,” said Kingsmill. “I can’t talk much about that at the time being. But improving our customer satisfaction to drive advocacy is at the core. Customers will continue to see the evolution of the Telstra brand.”

As long as it's not VB!

Not sure, aside from phone companies, alcohol manufacturers and car companies, what other company there would be in Australia with enough market reach to consumers to justify paying $10mill a year for sponsorship?

Got to love marketing BS! Like a change in colour palette of your logo suddenly makes people think differently about a company. they probably only charged them $25mill for this revelation as well!

The rebrand, with its bright new colour palette, was designed by Interbrand, DDB Group's brand agency, to reflect the telco’s increased focus on customer service, sales and marketing.

The finance industry would have a few potential sponsors such as the big 4; insurers and the international IBs.

Banks throwing money at sporting teams is like pissing it up against the wall

Waste

Well the big 4 spend at least $1b a year in promoting themselves I am sure they can "waste" 1% of their spend on the naming rights to improve their image.

A little disappointed that Nine aren't showing tonight's game on their main channel until late night (Live on GEM). Past prelims have rated pretty well on Nine. I guess those past ones wouldn't have been head to head with an AFL match before now, but it would likely still rate as well as some crappy movie they are showing instead.

AFL has the same issue in Sydney tonight also, but at least Better Homes actually rates.
