Does anyone here know what the highest rating NRL GF nationally is? (both metro + regionals) Is there any that are higher than the 3.867 million that tuned in yesterday?

Doesn't Channel 9 in Melb usually brush the NRL GF presentations?

960k is a stunning number.

05 and 06 were both 7.30 or later kicks offs right? (Wasnt there an 8.30 Kick Off one year??)

Melb showed the post game right up until the team photo (ya know the one with all the hangers on) and then cut to 60mins.

So NZ kicked off Daylight Savings already?

Thats going to be nightmare if this scenario happens again with a 7.30 (really 7.45pm) Kick Off.

Thats a 10.45pm start to the game?

Wonder which two clubs would draw the biggest GF tv audience? Melbourne v Brisbane probably if the boost in Brisbane viewers overcame the likely slight drop off in Sydney viewers. Two Sydney teams would draw a much bigger Sydney audience if two of the bigger clubs but would it make up for the lower Melbourne and Brisbane audience? How did the last brisbanevmelbourne final rate?

Looks like it'll be a 10:15pm kickoff (assumed it's on time) because they're now a week earlier than NSW...

The first night GF in 2001 (which I was at) kicked off at 8:10pm (finished at about 5 to 10), but got moved forward an hour the following year after people complained the next day that it started and finished too late.

Melbourne vs Nth QLD would yield the highest: a higher Brisbane metro figure, whilst getting very high regional figures from QLD - so I would say Melbourne vs Nth QLD (out of the 16 teams) would get the highest national figures. The Brisbane figure for 2006 (when the Broncos played) was only slightly higher than it was in 2005 (when the Cowboys played)

Either way, any GF involving Melbourne would be capitalising on the 2nd highest metro market. Sydney always gets high ratings regardless, so maximising other metro figures is the bonus.

Great ratings in Melbourne now if the ARLC can start the push of promotion and funding the game then will make it even better in the long run. The Storm success should be capitalize the same way the Brisbane Lions/Queensland Reds managed to do up here in QLD. As a result of there success, they manage to catch onto a audience and create a good niche from it the Storm had yet to be fully utilised. Considering the lack of advertising, poor coverage and being consigned to midnight for the majority of there existence.

Ideally it would of been nice if WA worked the first time to coincide with the Storm and it would of drew ever better ratings overall, the potential of rugby league is bright still in Australia despite the idiotic things that has occurred in our game. To be near the AFL in Australia despite no WA or SA team is impressive.

3867k metro and regional & 235 k NZ = 4102 K beats the AFLs 4053 unless, as Big Footy, claims AFL has suddenly become very popular among Kiwis.

were relying on NZ now? lol. why not include the other 79 countries it was viewed in as well?

Lets hope Melbourne can convert this success into members. They only have probably another 2 seasons before the big 3 retire.

Regardless, 3.9 vs 4.05 shows that both sports are equally popular. If Syndey cared as much about NRL as Melbourne do about AFL then they would've had virtually the same final figure.

NZ is an NRL market and considering we have spent money and have a team there...it should be fair to add them in the ratings imo

Would love to see the international ratings aswell...probably won't be that much though

Any way we could obtain UK ratings? I know it started at 8.30am but with it being on a main Sky Sports channel and 2 poms playing the ratings might have been ok. The Graham bite has certainly received a lot of coverage over there.

Of course they should be counted as the Warriors are one of the 16 teams. Just because AFL doesn't have a presence there doesn't mean they shouldn't be counted. If you want to use that, AFL can take Adelaide's and Perth's ratings away as the NRL doesn't have teams there.

I agree that New Zealand should be included in our ratings as one of our clubs comes from New Zealand.. Very disappointed with the Sydney ratings
