So I've started my Twiggy Research tonight (I really knew nothing about him), I'll summarise what Ive picked up so far:

o The Forresters are part of the 'Giving Pledge', along with Bill Gates, Elon Musk, Warren Buffett, i.e. they pledge to give away the vast majority of their wealth during their lifetimes (think 90% type numbers).
o They are total philanthropists.. they buy all sorts of companies, but they also invest heavily in driving social good.. she campaigns for child education, he is trying to drive the push to move to hydgogen power worldwide, i.e. using their money and influence to try and make big things happen.. not just give the cash away if you get me.
o That said its been an awful year for Twiggy, he split from his wife of 31yrs back in July, and he lost his father in September (his father was 95yrs old).. not sure how that impacts him.
o In 2017 when the Western Force were being kicked out of Super Rugby, there was "grief within the wider community", the Forresters went to a game.. to "feel the energy and injustice" and as a result... Andrew ended up backing the team financially, telling Rugby Australia "you'll have to go through me first". He turned the club around from that point.
o Squadron Energy is his renewable energy business, and he has been meeting with US/UK world leaders, trying to scale up hydrogen power technology.. and he recently withdrew a gas powered plant from Port Kembla.. one would assume he will aim to replace that with hydrogen or wind.

It looks like there is a lot to play out here.. I know not all will agree, but "imo" the Dragons were heading towards collapse if the 2023 trajectory continued for another 1-2yrs.. a roster divide we wouldn't come back from...

So I don't know why Twiggy picked us specifically.. charity.. investment or just publicity/exposure... was he just pumped up from the chat with O'Keefe? Honestly doesnt really matter, just very fortunate that we are the beneficiaries..

That said he's only a sponsor for now... i.e. he's not buying us... well not yet.. im not sure how our board would go with that anyway.. but money is nothing to this guy.. and he is a guy you want going into bat for you if you are getting a raw deal.. that said he has a LOT on his plate.. so we are well down the priority list.

A very good initial summation of Mr Forrest, TheRev, thanks.

It's odd, but just having Twiggy Forrest's name associated with St George, somehow makes it feel like a much
more professional outfit. I never got the same vibe when the Gordon's bought in. How it all pans out in practice we'll just have to wait and see.

There have been times where a sponsor of a club has publicly called out any injustice that they or the club they sponsor have felt has gone against them.
Having someone like Twiggy coming out commenting publicly should we be in this situation would surely have more weight to it than a statement from the club.
Or even a quiet phone call to the NRL.

You may be right about not being his No 1 priority but big financial sponsors like this, still have a big voice. (e.g. Laundy Hotels where the Bulldogs are not their No 1 priority either). We only hear what his sponsorship is worth or what they are releasing to the media, not the whole deal. The BOD will have no choice but to at least listen and entertain ideas and no doubt seek help from the richest business male in Australia.
Notice how the NRL will also tap into this and welcome him with open arms. Who knows in time he might make an offer top good to refuse to Uncle Gordon who is also near 95? or just wait...
Move over Uncle Nick we have a new kid in town and he likes and wants the biggest brand in RL world wide, just may want some return for his investment too. (wishful thinking here but may become a reality)

So you’re telling me…as supporters of his business venture…us long time supporters may receive some sort of bonus for the years of pain and torture we’ve been put through? Thank you in advance Mr Forrest.
