You know how it goes it Franklin. Whatever the incident big or small Sponsors (businesses) freak out. When the pressure comes from social media about boycotting them for their perceived stance, or sponsorship of an controversial individual.
Most of it comes from people who aren't customers or likely be.

The club moved now on this. Api had unsavioury headlines through the year if social media goes off and wants him gone. Does the club then step in? It is a fine line that is now becoming blurred

It's safe to say a lot of genuine members want May gone.

Again those same members have been members all through this and Lets be honest no one is not going to renew because of one dick that has been at the club for 4 seasons

Why do they want him gone.

Is it because the media have been banging the drums loudly 24/7 for the past 3 weeks. I think many are drinking the News and Fox kool aid. Make Munster and Smith lovable rouges whilst paining Tyrone May as Lucifer's right hand man.

Many who are carryon haven't (I believe) sat down and looked at the post, the series of photos without the drum banging.

I've thought long and hard about this ColdWet. He needs to get out of the public eye and do it now. The constant bile and abuse that he must be coping is probably huge.
Therefore to play park footy for 12months, hold a 'proper job' with it's ensuring wage and demands is the best way forward for him, (and to be honest) probably the only way.
Personally I have real fear for his future unless something like this occurs. Needs to stay off social media, and basically fade into the background till the heat dies down.
Your posts are always thoughtful Alice, so no suggestion from me you have been glib in any way.

I agree he should stay off social media for his own sake; no one needs to read the sort of stuff being written about him now. I just don’t think he needs to give up a successful career to do that.

Anyways, it seems that the mob has won and he won’t have any choice in whether he continues his career with the Panthers or not.

It can be argued the players assumed it was about the media hate and internet trolls particularly after Kent said they're done.

Nathan's post certainly was but it is a matter of opinions. Sponsor that is annoyed can't have it proved otherwise. May and the players will stick to that line of thinking. Very Messy all around

Most didn't want him re-signed but the club has to do what it thinks is right

When Kent was going full blast on NRL360 about Cleary senior and his 'lack of fan engagement pre Grand final. Kent dropped this gem. Ivan Cleary has declined when asked to come on NRL360......He's declined to be raked over the coals by Kent, Hooper and Rothfield, and frankly I don't blame him.

Personally I'd be more than happy with the club only dealing with Western Weekender. Never going to happen, but it's a lovely fantasy.
I’d love to see Cleary (junior or senior) try to get a semi regular gig on the Matty John’s podcast. That is the best 30 minutes on Fox League all week and the type of thing that would be right up their alley.

Well said mate: That makes me very sad. That someone's career is being damaged because of the vigilantees from cancel culture. Poles at the ready, flame alight.

I hope the club decides to stand firm and keep him.....because if not. The posse have basically run him out of town......for what a series of photos, and words of a drake song.

Kent, Rothfield, Hooper, Webster, Riccio all need to hang their heads in shame. They individually and as a group have wipped the crowds into a frenzy.

Nathan is contracted to ch9. As is Yeo and a few others

They couldn't prove it. Coke, like alcohol, leaves the body very quickly. Those players were also sanctioned for "bad optics", as was Mitchell Pearce with the dog, for that matter. All for displaying the game in a poor light, or as they say not in accordance with the game's values (this makes me laugh every time). The game's values are that they don't like bad media.
A hair sample will show cocaine use for months or up to a year. Do why isn't the NRL checking?

Wouldn't prove they used it on that occasion, just that they had at some time. I suspect a lot of players would fail this test.

Oh sweet.
Yeah I’m on the same page, the May stuff is well within the clubs control to deal with.

Part ways with him and it goes away.

I don't want our club to be one that cuts and runs on a player the way some are suggesting here. In the instance of his Instagram post - he did nothing 'wrong'. There was no intent to do anything wrong - it has been deliberately interpreted in the worst possible light by people with an agenda.

The media want to drum up a story, sections of media and NRL fandom who dislike/hate the Panthers are drumming it up to take us down a peg. Some people in here who simply think that May is a shit player and want him gone are latching onto this as an excuse to see him gone.

The dude has been punished enough. His name is permanently tarnished. He has lost hundreds of thousands of potential earnings already, probably copped a bath in legal fees and his future earning capability has also taken a hit. And yet some people want to pull him down even more. I honestly find this vigilante mob mentality quite disconcerting.

In saying all of that his post was ill advised - that is the worst of it.

In the end it doesn't matter which side of the fence you sit on as with most difference of opinions we all know we are right and anyone who disagrees is wrong.

Such is life.

May offers sweet FA. Him staying depends on how good the club thinks his brother is ino
What May offers as a player is totally irrelevant. He needs to be treated fairly and dealt with based on the facts of the situation. I will be disappointed if the club sacks him, but he is being given an opportunity to plead his case.

Somebody please help him draft an apology to the lady and explanation of his post. His silence has just given the media more fuel for their fire. Who is advising him on this matter? Whoever it is, so far they have been less than helpful.
