How is it an up yours to the club supporting his friend?

No mention at all about May being wrongly sacked, or the victim or disagreeing with the ddcision or supporting his actions.

It was literally an I have your back no matter what. Nothing more or less. I thought his choice of words was perfect to show support to his friend without actually taking his side or saying we were wrong.

The club might not like his support of a friend. But people who have never even met May have posted stuff in this very thread more in support of May and thinking he was the victim here. So for his absolute best friend to post with no swipe at the club is a relief IMO.

They live together and if I remember correctly May's insta is gone so he won't see it anyway. Any public message like that is going to be received poorly and only serves to show he's taking sides.

I wouldn't be surprised if May's contract contain a clause. Given his past history. It's easier to get rid of him then.
That was my thought too. The club statement would appear to support this too - "The Panthers Board of Directors concluded May’s conduct following the 2021 NRL Grand Final constituted a serious breach of his contractual obligations."

Gotta say, this whole thing has been a debacle from start to finish.

First things first, all social media accounts should have been managed by the club for the whole of GF week, and the 3-4 days of partying afterwards. That means no Live stories at all, and any standard posts get vetted first before going up. Suddenly, May doesn't show his ass, Kikau doesn't sing Glory Glory, Critta and Nathan avoid a fine for babying the trophy etc etc.

Failing that, as soon as the story blew up, May should have been dragged in, and issued a statement to the media (written by the club). Instead the club let him go dark, and the media frenzy intensified.

And finally the sacking. Obviously they didn't want any players commenting on it, because they conveniently avoided posting it on Instagram (where the players are most active). But they failed to get the memo to them, and now we have the players sending messages of support (which I'm fine with BTW), which is causing another wave of media coverage.

Honestly hard to distinguish who has less brains: our players for failing to understand that anything they say and do will be scrutinized by the bored NRL media, or our management for failing to take control of the situation at any stage. Absolute amateur hour.

We've now got a situation where we have sacked May against the wishes of the Coach, and Club Captain. And we've got to handle the backlash from the playing squad, which includes his little brother. Like it or not, Tyrone is very popular within the playing group. Anyone denying that there won't be a gulf between management and the squad is dreaming.

The ONLY silver lining is that this has blown up before the NRL squad has returned to training, and there is plenty of time for Ivan to get everyone on the same page.

Good Post.

I don't think anyone is upset at the result the process to get there is a terrible look on the club as a whole.

Glad all this hullabaloo is happening now not in the traditional late January or early February Penrith player mugshots and other misdeeds period.
Wonder if the friendly folks from Philip Street had any input.

When it is all broken down we are not that far removed from each other. Before Penrith got there own team most of the Penrith population would have followed Western Suburbs.

Yeah, I'm still angry with Ivan about how he left us but if I put myself in his position I can understand it.
Mate you know how far Ashfield is from Penrith? Wests were named that in 1908.

From Lithgow to Blacktown
The men in black do Prowl
From little Dylan to Kikau
Now they wear the crown

Some hiccups after winning
Some accidents and grog
The club fixed all up recently
And lifted up the fog

The slate is now wiped clean
And true as true they stand
The game salutes the Panthers
Good luck to Brendan Hands.

They could all leave if they would prefer.
I don't know what leg they would stand on though and how future employers would feel about their stance.
Taylan is an idiot also, "loyalty gets you nowhere" STFU fool. The club was loyal to Tyrone and he rubbed it in everyone's faces with his behaviour.

Would you be happy with that outcome?
Do you think management would cop any backlash as a result of it?

Lol. Nathan Cleary would have his choice of clubs, regardless of how he left Penrith. And Ivan would be almost as spoiled for choice, especially if they thought it would improve their chances of getting Nathan on board too.

Taylan, not so much - but considering the high regard Panthers juniors have, he'd get a similar deal to what he's on now no worries at all.

Pretty sure Taylan knows more of the situation than any of us.

Plenty of ways this could be interpreted:
- perhaps Tyrone knocked back other clubs to re-sign with us for 2022. Doubt those offers would still be on the table
- perhaps Tyrone pleaded guilty to his crimes to avoid having some other players names implicated in his actions
- perhaps Tyrone lied to the NRL Integrity Unit to help Nathan when he stupidly got busted on TikTok last year -

Taylan was right. The club was loyal to Tyrone and it got them nowhere except dragged through the mud.
