Honestly? No...

it's a pretty good film & samuel l jackson's best (IMHO..)

basically, the premise is jackson plays FBI agent neville flynn, who takes on a plane full of deadly and poisonous snakes, deliberately released to kill a witness being flown from Honolulu to Los Angeles to testify against a mob boss.

He was a good bloke that Joshua. Allowing some blokes hundreds of years after his death to call him the son of god and then allowing a Roman emperor to collect the gospels that most suited his agenda into a testament! :p

That the church considers some of the more contemporary gospels heretical speaks volumes for me.

There's more islanders playing the game, and the majority of them are Christian (mostly Mormon, but not all).

I can only speak for Eels but Pauli, Hayne, Hoppa, Sio were all born here although the belief may have been in their family for generations.

Hayne is also part indigenous so I dont thinks its solely down to their Islander heritage. At that age its a conscious mature age decision not just mommy and daddy's influence.

Yes, absolutely this. I never saw it until I moved to Auckland in '91. They would have prayer huddles before the game. Many would not play on a Sunday.

So, apparently now they have another hot-spot for the "resting" location of MH370.

http://news.ninemsn.com.au/technology/2014/06/17/12/42/mh370-hotspot-still-unsearched

Question we have to ask is, what actually happened to this plane? Has it indeed crashed, or something else?

Boeing-777's don't just randomly fall rom the sky. There has to be a reason (obviously).

With the internet these days, so many conspiracy theories get to fly around as well, it's not funny.
1) Aliens
2) Second bermuda triangle
3) Shot down by military
4) Dangerous goods on board
5) Depressurisation/hypoxia
6) In Kazakhstan
7) People on board harvested on black-market for organs

All I hope is, they find it soon. I'm very interested as to what happened with it.

actually therein lies the humble beginnings of the welfare state, and the 'no blame' generation...

Its counterbalanced by preaching against cheap grace.

Do that then. Watch it, no excuses.

Will do.

It's a fake passage (well a jumble of a few different things) the character I posted the image of recites before he shoots people.

(spoiler)

Not as much as you think. Ezekiel does discuss such ideas in the first part of the blurb, just not in the same language nor at the same time. The first bit did read legit though. Until I looked it up I honestly thought it was a full quote  That'll teach me.

 Snakes on a Plane?

You've been reading and watching too much Dan Brown and Bart Ehrman. Most current scholars dismiss the thesis that Constantine 'selected' the gospels, not to mention the early church's own rejection of the 'contemporary' gospels like Thomas.

I can only speak for Eels but Pauli, Hayne, Hoppa, Sio were all born here although the belief may have been in their family for generations.

Hanye's a special case; he's Born Again as RB suggests. I consider him to be more genuine in some respects, as he has made the choice rather than allowed a parental decision to continue.

The others are all cultural / family background based Christians.

Hayne is a bornagain isn't he?

Yep.

Hayne attends Hillsong, not really sure what brand that is.

AoG, ala 'The Happy Clappy's'.

Dan Brown and whothef**know? Hook, line and sinker Drew :p Although Thomas is still very much considered heretical (or at least non canonical) and whomever selected the New Testament gospels clearly chose those with the messianic bent over the others. Whether that was Constantine or not is the debate, maybe, but the fact someone did is clear.

Can't help but bite when its so blatantly wrong ;-)

Re the selection - the earliest documents considered 'canon' were all based on the author of the text. 3 gospels are eye witness accounts by apostles, Luke is a journalist style report where he went through and found he information out for Theophilus.

Romans - Philemon were written by Paul, an apostle.

Hebrew's has an unknown author but sits consistent with the writings both time wise and theologically. Most think it was Paul or Apollos.

James was written by Jesus' brother. Peter wrote two as apostle. John wrote 3 letters and Revelation (an apostle). Jude, another of Jesus' brothers, wrote the last letter.

Thomas was excluded because it wasn't written by an eyewitness and is instead pseudepigrapha.

Most of the NT canon was determined by 70-90 AD, and in line with the apostles teaching. It was never really debated at all. The council of Nicaea formalised the previous decision, sure, but it was actually a council where the canon was a secondary issue and the Arian controversy was in full swing.

Finally, if you read some of the excluded gospels, most of which were written over 100 years after (some up to 300 years), it actually is unbelievable. I know the latter statement is a furfy from your perspective :sarcasm:

Its a forgone conclusion. Australia is secular and becoming more so with every year. I'm not fussed TBH; Christianity is not about numbers but looking for true faith. We should never have 'imposed' our beliefs, but I do think they play / should play a large role in society because *surprise surprise* I think we're right :sarcasm:

Decent Christians wouldn't care about the numbers I wouldn't think, your typical fundy nutter would though.

At that age its a conscious mature age decision not just mommy and daddy's influence.

I would argue how conscious it really is if you've been subjected to it your whole life. I don't know their backgrounds, though.
