Update #3732 - PJ Marsh

There was a familiar face around Parra Stadium during the final weeks of the season.

Former Eels favourite PJ Marsh - - who recently signed a new deal with Parramatta after three years with the New Zealand Warriors - is already back home and training with the club.

Marsh played 34 games for the Eels in 2000-01 and was part of the side that went down to Newcastle in the 2001 Grand Final.

"It's great to be back and I can't wait for next year to come around," said Marsh, who hasn't played since suffering a serious neck injury in round 14, 2003, ironically at Parramatta Stadium.

"I've had two operations but it's finally come good and I should be back well in time for the trials early next year. I had some good times with the Warriors but feel very much at home back here with the Eels."

Marsh had another reason to return home early - his wife hails from Parramatta and is pregnant with the couple's first child.

"Kelly wanted to come back near her family so it's worked out well for both of us both on and off the field," Marsh says.

I am sure I speak for everyone when I say it's a relief to see that PJ's health is in good shape.

Congratulations PJ on your great news about the baby!

And welcome home guys!

Healy broke Hodgson's jaw.

Pierce might of been the bloke that hit Penna high in that game.

Awesome news.

If PJ, and us Eels fans, got the worst possible news in October and it was found that he could never play league again.........would it really be all that bad?

We didn't give up on another player to chase PJ did we? (I know we released Dykes but that also free'd up the cash for Hindy)
He is a great bloke by all accounts, a Parra junior, so I think he will be a great asset to have around th club whether he be playing(obviously preferred) or on the sidelines.

nope was Mitch Healy in BOTH games that year. That's right, Healy broke Penna's neck twice in one year!

nope. The first game was tackling Long wrong I think and the second was the Pierce tackle.

"really be all that bad"

In terms of the effect it will have on our campaign next year, obviously it will be bad in terms of ending the career of a talented young footballer.

Hope things go smooth for PJ, but it's still a long road from a clearance in October, to playing first grade in March when he's had so much time out.

Let's give him the time he needs to get back into things, and not expect him to be the cornerstone of our campaign from Round 1, eh?
