Says something about the ESL that Koni managed to win a title over there without ever really sorting out the fitness and consistency issues that held him back in the NRL.

Not sure if it was updated somewhere on another post but IP is off to Penrith next year.
https://www.nrl.com/news/2024/01/01...r-latest-signings-news-contracts-and-details/

Penrith have landed a blow in the recruitment market with Kiwi test star Isaiah Papali'i to join the defending premiers from the start of 2025.

The 2021 Dally M Second Rower of the Year was under contract at Wests Tigers until the end of 2025 but will make the move early to the Panthers from next season after he was given permission to negotiate an early release.

“We’re thrilled to have secured Isaiah’s services for the next three seasons,” Panthers Rugby League CEO Matt Cameron said. “Not only does Isaiah bring a wealth of experience and leadership capabilities to our club, but he’s also a world-class forward who has proven himself at the highest level.”

Papali'i joined Wests Tigers from Parramatta in 2021, and will bring up his 150th NRL game later this year having debuted for the Warriors in 2017.

Ex Warrior Sam Cook has signed for the York Knights in the UK.
Genuinely have no recollection of Sam Cook as a Warriors player, or even a person. Had him confused with James Bell, coincidentally who also played 2 games for us around a similar time.

For a MOTOWN fan the name was easy to remember. Pretty good player too.

Just seen Wade McKinnon on Monty’s show. I didn’t know he was back in Auckland.

Anyone know other Aussie players that stuck around or came back after they finished? I know of Jake Lillyman and Blake Ayshford, but anyone else?

Steve Price hung round for a while, he ended up buying a Four Square somewhere north of Auckland
Not sure if he's still there or not

Watched Otara Vs Papakura the other day (Papakura Sea Eagles are my ex local club, I used to drive from Northshore to watch all their games in prems, now I only go to Fox finals).

It was funny seeing all the Papakura players go over and hug Manu Vatuvei in his Scorpions jumper before kick off.

Manu can still run hard. He still gets a few leaguies asking for selfies at the humble park footy venues, even with his indiscretions.

I didn't, I have one of him with my son in the Warriors Gym. I don't get selfies with people, not my thing, I am a private sort of person anyway.

Was that the TV game? I heard he did a fairly serious shoulder(?) injury and went off in tears.

I was at the Otara v Te Atatu game at Otara this season, was a bit disappointed my namesake didn't play that day. His fellow World Cup winner David Fa'alogo was there coaching Otara though.

The TV crew were there bro so I guess so, I saw Krystal Rota but that is not unusual since she is a Sea Eagles girl.
