Why do these guys always want to be an offensive player, his hands are questionable at times. Why not try to become a defensive back

I really hope this isn’t true, mainly because I don’t want to believe Holmes could be this much of a c#nt.

Sharks missed out on getting Barber back because we were being patient with Holmes whilst he came to a decision, and for him to decide he wants to leave IMMEDIATLY this close to the new season, honestly it feels like a spit to the face.

Here’s left the Sharks with f**k all time to find a replacement plus there’s no one on the market anywhere near his caliber, and to top it off I imagine a lot of 2019’s gameplans would have revolved around him.

because it’s not a ‘sexy’ enough position.

plus the fact he will get made to look like a fool by other kids who have played the game all their life when he tries to cover them.

I feel sorry for him tbh.

He was homesick but now he's going to have to move even further away to fulfil his sporting potential. Life sucks sometimes.

unlike Hayne, due to his age Holmes has a chance to actually make it over there
He's going to have to commit to it and be ready to put in 2-3 years of work for little to no return in hopes of being a player by 25-26.

As i said with Hayne, the probably is never really athleticism with guys like Holmes or Hayne, they're athletically capable of being good players (though our freaks dont stand up athletically to theirs for a number of reasons, including the level of facilities and coaching their athletes get at a young age compared to ours)

The problem is these guys dont know the game, they dont play it naturally, they have to think about what they're doing, and whilst ever that happens, they're a second too slow and in a game that is made for bursts of 4-5 seconds of action, 1 second too slow is too much.

Holmes will need to get onto a roster, get the practise reps and be willing to keep working on the reps until he's natural in what he's doing, where he can just go out and play as he sees it. He's 23, he has the time to commit to it.

Edit: just saw the 4.6 40... that's going to be problem for a guy built like him. That's WELL off the mark for NFL players of his size

Hayne was big, strong and fast whereas Val is just quick. I don't think this is going to be a very successful venture.
Holmes is slower but there must be something to if they show interest. A bit slow but great footwork.

he appears a fair bit smarter than Hayne not hard really. I'd give him a better chance to actually learn the game. Hayne is so lazy and he still did ok in pre season and probably should have gotten a better go unless he started going bad like he has since he returned to league.
