have it recorded, after reading this and what I heard on the radio today I may just hit delete.
If Kearney as national coach had that much effect on the team (playing with pride and a bit of structure) there is hope for the Warriors in 2017 at least

I think we need an experienced coach. We've got a bunch of NRL ASSISTANTS in charge. They are assistants for a reason.

Was Cleary ever considered? Experienced NRL coach who has experience with NZ culture

I had a feeling there is a certain rule stating something along the lines of NZ born or citizen to be eligible to be coach.

I didn't think the Ref was bad. Tried to let the game flow.
But so many stupid, blatant errors from the Kiwis. They looked like they were tired and trying to slow the play down.

That said, the Kiwi's had 11 of the players from the world cup winning team out there. Sure didn't look like it.
And for all the blame being heaped on Kidwell, players at this level should know what to do and be able to motivate themselves.

Some interesting stats from the Final. These were from the Ch 9 telecast just after the 30 min mark.

First Tackle Metres
Aus 192 NZ 44

Second Tackle Metres
Aus 71 NZ 85

Third Tackle Metres
Aus 103 NZ 41

Fourth Tackle Metres
Aus 99 NZ 57

Fifth Tackle Metres
Aus 108 NZ 25

Those first up tackle metres are enormous. Basically reiterates that our forward pack just weren't up to the task.

The biggest thing I noticed over the comp was the lack of metres gained from our second starting prop option. Initially it was Warea-Hargreaves, then later on Blair. The game stats for metres gained from both those guys are pretty ordinary.

Would we have benefitted from having Tapau starting games given his better metres gained each match? Obviously that would have weakened the impact from the bench, but given that slow starts were one of our biggest problems against Australia, it may have been the way to go.

I think we missed Sam Moa this tournament. Our initial go forward was hugely down from the team who put 3 consecutive wins over Aus.

Raises the question, just how important has Ben Matulino regaining his form and aggression become, for not only the Warriors but the Kiwis as well leading into a World Cup year?

i reckon tony iro will get a gig somewhere in the mix

Seriously wouldn't surprise me. Not if he has his way.

What I'm still curious about, is where does Richie Blackmore fit in all of this. Apparently he's a promising up and comer, but managed to miss out on any of the Warriors lower grade coaching appointments. I wouldn't have thought that a certain Kiwi selectors influence stretched as far as the Warriors? Anyone in the Auckland scene have any inside word?

I'm done with international league. Absolute waste of everyone's time. If you're going to appoint sub-par coaches like Kidwell, it'll die its own death anyway.

The only thing that bugs me about Kidwell is his team selection. His team was never the best side available. A lot of us knew this and no matter how hard we tried to be positive about those that Kidwell left out, you always knew that Kidwells Kiwis were just lame and thats been confirmed from Perth to England.

In hindsight where everythings easy and for what its worth, I wouldve gone...

1. Fusitua - good returns and more capable than Kahu at the back for me.
2. SKD - the only good he did was cart that ball out of our own half, like a winger.
3. Kata - with Kahu, I think he would get more oppertunities, didnt see that Warriors form he had.
4. Takairangi - loves to ball play(for Rapana) and hit holes (for Johnson), sound defender.
5. Rapana - did well to show why he was a force for the Raiders
6. Kahu - audacious in his 3rd tackle well weighted grubber off a set play to get a repeat set, also has very good ball playing skills.
7. Johnson
8. Bromwich
9. Leiluai - should be here for his mobility in defence.
10. Taupau - start the meter eating early, Ive got impact players on the bench.
11. Pritchard - needed x factor not just 'robotic/stick to the program' second rowers, would like to see Pritchard bring Kahu and Kata alive.
12. Proctor
13. Taumalolo

14. Luke
15. Harris
16. Blair
17. Kasiano - sick of this 'Sam wont last' and then opting for someone that DOES last and does NOTHING. We need an attacking prop. Group him with Proctor and Johnson in the hope he can link with them and take away defences focus off of them.

To be fair he only got the gig cos he knows the systems and moves and structures of the squad becos he was assistant for a couple of seasons with the current squad. Would of been suicide to appoint an "outsider" 4 weeks out from the tour

Even with this team we are light years away from topping that Kangaroos side. We required some of the injured or unavailable players back in this squad to show some real grit and composure. Kidwell was never a chance with this squad.
