vs Dragons

If we ever get to a point in the season where we're actually able to grind another side down, Tomkins will be an absolute weapon. As per usual though, we'll probably have to endure the same old disjointed, listless performances and losing ruts before there's much of anything to smile about.

I bet the half time team talk was pretty inspiring, you would have thought the dragons were up 12-6.

We look so disjointed in our attack , Townsend has had his chance to prove and failed , TL should slot back at six when he's back. Whatever we payed for Tomkins I thought was too much before the season , don't see him doing any better than Locke has done for us.

How with this lineup that we can't put in a half decent performance bemuses me , the attitude out there today was woeful.

The half time score wasn't anything to crow about- that was probably a 12-18 point wind as the dragons showed in the second half. Taking that into account the dragons won both halves by similar margins.

I think they'll be consistently putting 30 points on teams by round 7-8. Defensively, eh I dunno.

And Tomkins will be fine with Leuluai at 6 and with some more cohesion with his outside backs. And to be fair he's already got a couple of try assists and scored 1 himself on backline plays. Which are already underutilised so far this season.

I think we are poorly coached. Elliot is ok but he won't deliver us a premiership IMO. Not many good coaches on the market though. Another shit start to the year why can't we play the storm first

That second half was almost perfectly dreadful. I can't think of one thing that went right for us.

Townsend is not impressing at all. Can't wait for TL to be back.

Tomkins disappointing so far. He's going to be getting a lot of bombs this season! But I won't judge him until half way through the season. He better stuff it up under the high ball.

Only good part of the game was Matulino's first half.

Can't wait for the press conference vid , how's matty gonna talk his way out of this one ??

He talked before round 1 about how they had developed systems over the preseason and that starting well wasn't the issue it was that the "boys" embraced these systems.

So it's either the players aren't listening to the coach , or the coach can't communicate with the players.

Didn't see the NSW cup game on Sky but how did Hurrell look? Ready for first grade yet?

Played well - best player for Warriors / Vulcans. Offers more on attack than any of the backs in 1st grade at the moment. Must be something really bad at the club if he not playing 1st grade next week.

Eh it is what it is I suppose. Lets be realistic and say 80-90% of Warriors fans had seen this guy play maybe 2-3 games at most, he got wheeled out with that big media week and talk of his salary so they were expecting to come over and from round 1 be putting in 2009 Billy Salteresque performances. Bit of a hiding to nothing really.

 Hah if I remember correctly you were one going on about how "Tomkins can deliver us a premiership" and "he was amazing against the Kangaroos", "He'll make the transition into NRL no issues".

We paid him a *huge* amount and I wasn't expecting anything Slater-esque in rounds 1 and 2 but right now he's barely even on par with where a normal NRL fullback should be.

Has no idea under the high ball, isn't around to make covering tackles, has lots of pace but gets stopped dead in a 1-1 tackle. How will TL at #6 help any of this?

Hey he might come right and I really hope he does, but stop making excuses for him.

He was amazing against the Roos. He will make the transition no problems.

You yourself the other day said something like "so far it doesn't look like he'll reach Billy Slaters level" aka doesn't look like he will go onto be the best fullback of all time

What excuses am I making for him? I was responding to the reasons why people are going after Tomkins especially. I even said that his main weakness was under the high ball if there was one (even though I don't actually think it'll be any sort of long term problem)

I wouldn't expect anything less from Warriors fans right now.

We've never had a first class coach IMO. even the ones who were relatively good (Anderson and Cleary) came to us as first grade rookies. Would love to see how we'd do with a Bellamy or Bennet.

That Billy Slater comment was a reference to him being the "Billy Slater of the ESL". I was never expecting him to hit anywhere near that level and always maintained that he would probably end up in the 'good but not great' category.

No one has been singling out Tomkins from us Warriors fans, he copped it mainly when he completely muffed a regulation bomb twice but other than that we gave him credit where its due when he was on attack. We all laid into Johnson, Townsend, Tuimavave equally. Tomkins isn't the worst on the park, far from it. But given his paycheck and reputation yes we're entitled to be a bit disappointed.

What's all this about "Warriors fans right now"? I'm not a bandwagon fan, I call a spade a spade. They're playing horrible footy and and that's all there is to it, its not "nitpicking" to point out the glaring flaws in our game right now.

As in, Warriors fans at this moment after two losses. We very rarely agree on anything Warriors/League related anyway which I'm more than fine with to be honest. We'll see how it goes.

Just watched the press conference on NRL.COM , definitely recommend you guys should watch it , Elliott almost in tears , a lot of questions aimed at Mannering , injury not looking good for Henry.

A fish starts rotting at the head. Elliott has been proven to be a fraud in the NRL and Scurrah is the goose who performed a coup d'état on Cleary. Let's not forget, from 12 possible club points, we have 1. We are disgracefully run.

This is the reality. The problem is once we string 3 or 4 wins together, everyone will become optimistic again and forget that we are actually going nowhere fast.

For the first time ever, in my 20th year of supporting this team, I find myself lacking my normal enthusiasm. And I really can't believe I'm saying it, but maybe only a true failure of a season is needed to bring the sweeping changes that are really necessary.
