Well we certainly pack a lot of polish when Api is out. Don't like our chances against top 4 teams if he were to be out.

But i think we could be missing half our roster and still be winning these games against bottom 8 teams. There's a few guys who can come up with something from nowhere to bag enough points to win.

Last night the only shot Tigers wanted to fire after exposing Mansour with a kick. Was trying to grub it up with our guys and hopefully throw them off their game. Which made it more impressive when Taylor and Mbye helped steady Yeo. Mbye tries kicking Cleary in the head... Yet also tries to help out Yeo. Both the biggest grub act of the night and one of the best.

I don’t think the refs were very impressive.

We would probably have still lost of course, but that penalty try took the edge off the game.

Naden had a stellar game and my non-snitching mate Dylan Edwards.

Adam Douhie had a good game for you too. He will learn I guess. We looked better when he was in the bin for breathing without a licence.

Wow. Ben Cummins is anti Penrith, and we won.

I thought he did very well.

On another note, did anyone notice the coach's faux pas in the presser. He said May had done lots of video work during his enforced layoff. I suspect he might like that moment back.
Did you see the dressing room scene on the right hand side were Coach Cleary was talking to Api. Api was jokingly stirring him up by gesturing the "blowing of the kiss". lol!

It was easily a penalty try. It was Douehi’s stupid pass and sin binning that really killed you guys. You did well down a man, very well actually but it cost you a lot of energy I think. We came home strong.

37 tackles. 0 misses
1 linebreak
2 Try Assists

Decent enough stats. Especially if he was played to help out the attack with key guys out

Great stats really considering he is just filling in.

May could be a very good edge forward like a prime wade graham if he got moved there permanently. Not saying we should do it but if it did happen I think he’d a borderline rep back rower.

Not to mention you could not score a running try against us even with us not having Api and Kiks out. But unfortunately for your team, you played against a side that gave you a lesson in resilience and toughness. Hope to have your support for our side in the finals. :)

I thought Edwards was outstanding. Always in the right position for receipt of kicks and ran well returning. .

His positional play is top notch as is his running game. Just gotta get the little unforced errors out of his game.

That is the sort of role I see Burton doing but no reason Burton can't be 14 with May doing that role. Once Martin goes to his natural position of prop that is

2 Try Assists. Probably wanted the extra attack

I think people misunderstood my comment. Overall he had a great game.

His try assists were when he was playing lock later in the half / game. Plays brilliantly in that role.

But he’s not an edge forward & imo the first 20 odd minutes we’d be better suited with either Burns or Yeo playing that role & either May at lock or on the bench.

I see where you are coming from but I think with Kikau out he is our biggest attacking point, he creates all kinds of space just us a decoy let alone when he gets the ball. May obviously can’t provide what Kikau can but he does provide a different attacking point with his vision and ball playing, someone who can provide points. If Capewell was fit he’d be an obvious choice over May but Burns isn’t quite there yet, he will get there for sure but given may made no mistakes last night I don’t think you can say Burns is definitely a better option yet, he’s a better back rower but he still has mistakes and penalties in him.

Yeo is finally carving up as a middle though. You want as little disruptions as possible.

Burns seems to be struggling with the pace of FG so is too risky to start.

Tetevano has been playing some edge but you don't get much attack.

So it was a good way to see how May goes with handling the early harder stuff.

It is like next game Yeo is out. Capewell and Kikau in so best available backrow is

11 Kikau
12 Capewell
13 Martin

Though given it is likely for only one game. The likely outcome is Leota or someone playing lock. As it keeps the structure we want moving forward

Interesting, I don’t see him as an edge forward at all. He isn’t physical enough. Maybe he could change that, but too early to be saying he’ll be a star there.

As @martielang said, he played better when he was in the middle.

He’s the style of lock that was popular 10-20 years ago.

I’d play May at lock. Even though Yeo can play like a prop, one of the things he’s done very well this year is his passing. He’s got really nice hands for a big fella. Martin doesn’t have that.

Have Martin come in for the occasional hit up to make up for the loss of Yeo.

Martin has been among our best this year. I like Capewell but the 12 is Martins this year barring injury. Capewell comes in for Burns.

IMO the most value May can provide is in the middle, providing that link between the middle and the halves on the edge, similar to how Yeo has been playing. He gets his hands on the ball more often and can still pop up for those looping balls to the winger when the defense is pushing up on Kiks or Martin.

I expect JFH to start lock, Leota to start PF. Martin to start on the edge and Capewell from the bench. May back to 14.
