The only question I have about this idea is if the Bears decide ok we’re out of Perth and we want to go back to Sydney do you think the ARLC would have the guts to kick the Bears out?

Bearing in mind as well they have to sell nine games to broadcasters.

Yes because those 9 games would be sold as including team 18 in Perth, Wellington or wherever.

That’s the issue, we know the nrl are spineless.
So let’s say it gets to October one year and the bears come out and say that perth isn’t viable any longer and they have $15million of investors willing to support them in a 8/4 split with gosford and NSO. Does anyone really think the nrl would take the license off them and not fulfil the tv contract until they could get a new team in perth up and running? Please!

only way that can never happen is if a new company is formed where NS football club don’t have majority ownership and the license sits with the new company.

You've been told why the Reds failed. It was all down to the ARL slugging them with extra expenses to accommodate the the NSWRL clubs. Don't let this inconvenient fact get in the way of your pro-NSWRL revisionist stance of history.
Who have you told that too

the reds failed because news ltd shafted them then took their players to Melbourne

Depends who the arlc boss is

the other Sydney clubs won’t allow it to happen though

and why are you worried

a Perth bears team should be doing reasonably well anyway they won’t want to go back to Sydney

It will be in the contract that the side needs to be based elsewhere, Seriously people worry about some stupid shit
Vlandys is literally going to deliver what they’ve all been whinging about for 20 yrs … an nrl team in Perth …. And the silly twits are still finding a way to moan

Exactly the licence, Like when Newcastle and GC went broke. Will be held by the NRL until a buyer in that city takes over. The Bears link is just ensuring it isn't just a plastic club and has some history behind it, Which gets more eyeballs and is a win

I've mentioned it on here numerous times. So has @Perth Red. I even showed you excerpts from 20 YEARS IN THE SADDLE NORTH QUEENSLAND COWBOYS 199T-2014 that confirms it. You continuously ignore it because you don't want to accept that Arthurson and Quayle were to blame for the Super League war.

Didn't V'landys verbally agree to a deal with the NSW Gov without putting anything in writing?

Now he has no leg to stand on about the NSW Gov not going through with the deal.

V'landys also gave the broadcast rights to Ch9 and News Ltd for peanuts.

Yeh the same vlandys who added the dolphins when the deadbeats at the qrl … the bastions of rugby league in qld … said they didn’t want them included

Here's where fantasy loses reality, none of this will happen and has gone opposite... gtfoh with your anti sydney agenda.. its like me saying we should give gold coast to the broncos... this all coming from a dullard who thinks both logan and singapore should have an nrl team
It's NOT an anti-Sydney agenda - It's an anti-"Sydney Privilege" agenda.

Basically, it's just the belief that in a 21st century trans-Tasman top tier competition, we shouldn't have half the teams in just one city.

True, but they've mitigated the issue by focusing expansion on big metros (No Townsville, Newcastle or Woolongong-sized markets).. and there's a case to be made for a couple of Melbourne AFL teams to relocate or get replaced if they want to widen their net further without putting more strain on player depth.

That means shit... it doesn't matter who is where, its where you play the game... no point having all metros if your struggling to put out a competitive side... world cup is a perfect example... where is USA, where's China,
Lets put a team in Adelaide, but draft a whole heap of qlders and nsw players to move there..
Say what you want about Townsville, Newcastle, Penrith, Cronulla and Illawarra...
They play Rugba League... so you say lets put one in every market... itll dry up quicker than an A-league side in GC or NQ, why? They dont play it... Sydney does, QLD does

Eddie McGuire was once asked if afl would copy rugby league and force mergers or more relocations of Melbourne clubs

his answer was in response to what happened in rugby league and he said no they are part of the social fabric

but hey let’s weaken rugby league where it’s the strongest in the world to try and make it successful in small afl states

great argument !

surely if you are being logical then if we want to copy afl then clubs like Newcastle Canberra and the cowboys need to go for Perth and Adelaide

And obviously no rational person is arguing that.

end of the day the revival of rugby league in New Zealand is purely based on the strength of the game in Sydney and the expansionary vision of Quayle and arko

When Sydney's professional RL clubs can draw the same type of crowds, membership subscriptions and sponsorship deals as Melbourne's AwFuL clubs then you might have a point.

The least supported Melbourne-based AwFuL -- North Melbourne Kangaroos --club drew an average of 14,368 to their home games this year. AwFuL have been trying to relocate them interstate for over a decade. At least four Sydney-based NRL clubs averaged less than North Melbourne. The second worst attended AwFuL team from Melbourne was the Western Bulldogs with an average of 24,655 fans turning up to their games. All nine Sydney clubs drew less than that, with the best supported club being Parramatta at 20,015

The biggest question about any expansion side (or any side really) is whether they can financially sustain themselves.
