People with copious chutzpah can reinvent themselves in a new setting. In some areas of artistic endeavour it can take a while to distinguish the undiscovered genius from the talentless loon.
I`ve made this comment before in our national newspapers comment sections, whatever happened to the good old English word `audacity`.

Wow you can almost see Ireland from there

The UK music media never paid much heed to what was happening in Oz, but bands who spent time over here generally got a favourable reception.

I was always on the lookout for signs of any RL affinities. Only hint I ever saw was the Sharks and Magpies jerseys in the Hoodoo Gurus video for "What's My Scene".
you know they redid it as that’s my team ? Which ran as the nrl anthem for a few years

I loved it

The greatest thing they could do is admit north sydney bears, east tigers and anyone else who want to bid, then see other areas outside of the heartlands start building infrastructure and presence within their own comps to push for future expansion of the comp... also aligning the affiliated states linking up with existing clubs to manage a pathway for those juniors till they get a team of their own
no we need to get rid of Melbourne and bring back Newtown. Simply not enough clubs in nsw and qlnd. No need to waste money on rusted on afl states

Dave Faulkner of the Gurus is a massive Sharks fan. He was getting that jumper in the clip no matter what.

One of the great things about the English language is it's capacity to absorb vocabulary from around the world.

For instance "sledging" used to be an innocent word conjuring up images of happy children tobogganing down snow-covered slopes. Now it's associated with concerted verbal abuse. Thanks Australia. We're so grateful.

BTW, its reckoned that the Eskimos have myriad words for snow. Judging from our Kiwi mate on another thread, there could be a similar number of Maori words for sledging.

Or waves from what I`ve seen. Kinda sad really, poor Pommie bastards with their moon-tans trying to imitate Aussies by surfing on waveless, sandless beaches. What a sight.
English surfing is a lot safer. Don't think we'd want to imitate getting eaten by a shark. I even saw a news item about a croc in the sea somewhere off the QLD coast. Then there are those peculiar things, one of which did for Steve Irwin.

In 1975, after Jaws came out, the beaches in Newquay saw the highest number of phantom shark sightings. Mischievous rascals would yell "Shark" and everyone would scatter.

What if the RFL purchased a stake in the St George Illawarra Dragons?

Imagine how great it would be if the RFL took control of the club and rebranded them as the St George Dragons!

The club could be used as a development team for England's best youths. If it makes the national team stronger then that would be great for the game. Rugby League needs England to become strong enough to defeat Australia regularly.

Gotta admit, in all my life would never have thought that idea up

Sharks were everywhere in 1975.

Could have sworn I saw one on Deansgate when I came out of the Manchester Odeon.
My cousin who was 10 at the time had nightmares for a month after his parents took him to see the movie.
Unrelated, I remember clearly his brother had this great surf poster on his wall, showed a surfie staring out to sea with the caption " turn your back on the world ", I know it struck a chord with me, even as a child.

Oh please, Pippen.
He never had those thoughts until after I put the '8 beer idea' that Perth could use English players as a gateway to gain support on the east coast expats.
Go back and see, it started after that drunken idea of mine.
I am to blame for all the malarkey from that point.

Holly f**k! This is a troll account right??

Both cities are based on a river? Haha f**k me
Bagdad is on the Tigris River .Therefore it can be likened to Brisbane and London. Just saying.

Never forget Saddam Hussein's propaganda Minister Bagdad Bob saying" We are throwing back the American invaders from our city , we are defeating the enemy ". All this whilst about 500 metres away the rumble of U.S. tanks could heard crashing their way through."
