Yes really stop talking bollocks

Other than Leicester tigers every union club in the world loses money or breaks even

most lose money and their owners don’t care
Come on don’t be ashamed, you must have formed your opinion on this on something you’ve read. What’s telling you that ”most” professional sports clubs in the world other than nrl clubs lose money?

tbf they’ve not said that, theyve said anywhere between 2-6 in statements theyve made

“We’re not saying we want eight games at North Sydney Oval, we know we can’t do that. We want somewhere between two to four” - Moore

“The club has four key non-negotiables around its NRL return in whatever guise that may be – a minimum of four games at North Sydney Oval”

”4-6 at NSO (grass roots tribalism),”
I’ve been a Bears member for many years, trust me, don’t believe everything Billy Moore and Co publicly state, Moore lives in Qld.
Many current hardcore members don’t expect anything at North Sydney Oval except the Manly game if this Perth venture goes ahead.
The members against a Perth move will still have their NSW Cup team anyways, but with the Roosters forming their own NSW Cup team in 2023 those members are about to see how strongly that team performs without an NRL presence.
As I have said nothing concrete will be revealed or even touched upon until near years end.
Until then it will all be speculation, unicorns and bigfoot sightings.

Really? So most soccer clubs aren’t making a profit? Nfl clubs? NBA clubs? Afl?, F1 teams? French union clubs (have you seen their revenue levels.)? And so it goes on.

if you have some evidence to share that nearly all professional sports clubs in the world are losing money please do share it!
These clubs/sports do make profits, hell American college teams get bigger crowds than NRL does.
The big question is, which clubs operate within their salary cap ?, are the Roosters and the Tigers or Dragons really spending the same $$$ on players ?.
Which clubs are in the black and making a profit ?, which clubs are developing juniors and actually providing a future for rugby league ?, why does the salary cap not strongly reward these clubs while other clubs clearly don’t even try to develop players and continually keep buying player after player after player.
You could go on and on why rugby league is slowly dying.

From the other side Id have no problem at all with one “home“ game in Sydney v manly. It would make commercial sense as much as anything. There could be a 5 game Sydney membership which included that game as well as games at Allianz and commbank.
that would be a nice money earner as well as boost the coffers of Sydney club playing Perth. It’d boost merch sales in Sydney as well I reckon. I reckon you’d get quite a few perth fans fly over for it as well Which could make for a fun supporters group weekend away.

yeh they are saying what they think their members want to hear at the moment, if they are sensible and willing to compromise on some key things then it’s not off the table I’d suggest.

Rugby league isnt slowly dying lol.
It’s professional sport, not amateurs. Clubs will always try and buy the best available on the market for instant success. clubs should be rewarDes for debuting nrl first grade players. Who cares where those kids first picked up a Steeden, be it perth, gosford or Port Moresby.

Nrl to stop playing games

clubs to get their accountants to send their financials to their rivals

winner each round is the club with the biggest profit

Here on the Central Coast we once had the 3rd largest junior base in NSW, not anymore, participation numbers are well down, the league now adds female participation and league tag to their stats whereas these were not added in the past.
I look at the number of teams that are no longer represented in many age groups, rival clubs that have had to merge teams in various age groups, clubs that have folded and it shows how the game is now starting to struggle in a once thriving area.

Nrl has slashed tens of millions out of grass roots funding last two years so we shouldn’t be surprised if there are consequences.
Kids have never been as exposed to as much Rugby League as they are these days, it`s on their phones, tvs., computers, everywhere.
The facts of the matter are if we keep getting the high-quality Rugby League and corresponding highlights we are getting lately and the positive headlines then the kids will come back.

Does exposure equal participation?

Will you please just follow the Raiders, the Bears only want to play one game, yes one game at North Sydney Oval and that is against our hated arch rivals Manly Warringah.
Now stop making things up.
This is just a straight up lie lol.

I won't stress what PR's already demonstrated, but both Dickson and Moore (chairman and board member FYI) have been quoted saying they want to play more than one game at NSO, and the current bid lays out plans to play up to half the season at NSO.

Nobody has set up there full time

ideal rugby league area would take in Liverpool all the way to dogs territory
The Magpies moved to Campbelltown in the 80s... It didn't really work out did it.

It's a basic tenant of business and marketing that the more accessible and convenient your product/service is the more people will buy/use it.

In this context for a football team that means making it as easy as possible for as many people as possible to buy tickets and attend games, and for the facilities at the stadium to be as modern and convenient as possible. CommBank fits those criteria best of the options realistically available to the Tigers, and it's not even close to a contest.

Half the league has tried to organise reciprocal rights deals similar to that. They've always either hit a contractual brick wall or failed to come to an equitable agreement. In other words there's about as much chance of their being a 'Sydney membership' that includes tickets to other teams games as there is of aliens landing outside Parliament House. Technically it's possible, but the odds of it actually happening...

What would be in it for the (other) Sydney clubs anyway? Most of the people inclined to buy one of those memberships would just buy tickets at the full price from the respective clubs anyway, and there's nothing even half as valuable that the Bears could realistically offer them in return. The other clubs would basically just be handing revenue over to the Bears out of the kindness of their hearts, and it doesn't seem very likely that any club would agree to that.
yeh they are saying what they think their members want to hear at the moment, if they are sensible and willing to compromise on some key things then it’s not off the table I’d suggest.
Two decades of their own repeated behaviour demonstrates that they're not willing to do either.

I thought you were past this "damn the consequences, just get me some games to attend on the weekend" nonsense.

Have you ever been to the local tennis courts around Oz open time; you ever heard the streets around where you live when the Oz F1 GP was on.
The former you couldn`t get a court when the rest of the year it`s dead; the latter, it`s hard to sleep because of all the hoons living out their F1 fantasies.
So I`d say yes, positive exposure is a massively important way of engaging people in some way. Wall to wall positive exposure is even better. We can have that, in fact you`ve been making the same argument with regards to League in W.A. and the debacle around the Western Reds for quite a while IIRC.
