In any case, this is all hypothetical. It is now going to be the mighty Country Bears.
Have to use the CRL colours to make it work. CRL's history is just as important as the Bears. In any case, this is all hypothetical. It is now going to be the mighty Country Bears.
CRL no longer exists from memory. Was put under the NsWRL as it was full of old men who remember the good old day’s while getting pissed.Have to use the CRL colours to make it work. CRL's history is just as important as the Bears.
Yes the colour of the jersey is the main issue with this proposal.Have to use the CRL colours to make it work. CRL's history is just as important as the Bears.
Which is why I'd like to see the Bears adopt the colours of the CRL. Its memory can live on via the Country Bears.CRL no longer exists from memory. Was put under the NsWRL as it was full of old men who remember the good old day’s while getting pissed.
f**k me there is some dribble. How is Rothfield even getting to dictate expansion policy!?!?
Bears fans are 45+ years old. You’ll get the nostalgia hit and SFA after. Sydney needs another team like a hole in the head and the other ideas are absurd.
I think PVL probably has, they are just too stubborn or delusional to make it work for perth. Not sure the Country Bears would actually be good for country RL. Bears say a team would be dependent on funding from business and councils in regional areas. Wouldn’t this eat into the budget and support for the local clubs?
And how does a team playing in Dubbo and Wagga think they will be able to keep up financially with teams playing at modern Sydney stadiums. What players want to spend every second weekend travelling around NSW on a bus?
The only thing I took out of that MMM interview was that PNG might not be the 18th team.
Their best and probably only hope is to partner up with Perth. PVL should let them know.
Its like they have looked at PNG, and went "You think that's a stupid idea? hold my beer!"Not sure the Country Bears would actually be good for country RL. Its 2024.
Sydney NRL people can be weird. Its 2024.
And the people that control the narrative for Rugby League, want to play more games in our most saturated market.
BUT at a park oval that seats no more than 10 thousand people.
Not once, not twice, but a minimum of four times?
Have North Sydney fans disappeared up their own arses?
I think they're stuck in a 1970's time warp!Sydney NRL people can be weird.
Vlandys isnt stupid, he knows he ony has to mention the Bears and the sydney media will be frothing for weeks. No such thing as bad publicity and all that!Don’t get me wrong. I love the Bears. I love their 90s teams and history. Sat there with a mate watching them ride high as he watched the rabbits with me. I was there when the cancer took him and not much longer, the Bears merged. Both now exist, fondly, as memories, and I very much doubt either will come back.
The Bears chance was Gosford. The merger dealt them a fatal blow. Manly’s return killed them. Playing at NSO is trading on the past like Henson or Redfern (even Belmore and Leichhardt too).
Coming back as Pacifica, NZ, Country, Perth… and playing in Sydney too… I’m sorry but no.
If the NRL are serious, their expansion markets and opportunities are Perth, Adelaide, NZ 2, perhaps eventually PNG. Furthermore, they f**k off any dumb merkin discussing it at Fox/DT.
That's the thing, we have so many great areas/opportunities to expand to , yet they talk about PNG in Cairns, North Sydney, NSO, Pasifica and now country NSW.Don’t get me wrong. I love the Bears. you have too much faith lolThat's the thing, we have so many great areas/opportunities to expand to , yet they talk about PNG in Cairns, North Sydney, NSO, Pasifica and now country NSW.
Surely they can't f**k up such an easy assignment .
